Not the first time I've seen people ditch or thinking of leaving Slack and similar tech for... just plain Web 1.0 forums.

https://posthog.com/blog/slack-closure

Slack and others do keep great content hard to find or out of reach unless the owner pays.

Could 2024 or 2025 have a slight uptick in just old fashion forums? the part of me that has been asleep for a while would welcome it.

Who's for a site and a ?

There is but it seems...less forumy? Than I expected. I Dunno. I'd like to include some form of forum on sirtaptap.com in the most natural and least I-Have-To-Do-Work way possible

Hadn't thought about this, enabled Buddypress & bbPress on sirtaptap.com as a test and just now noticed I got about 500 spam registrations.

Usually akismet/cloudflare keeps spam low and deletes stuff but I guess for users they don't apply.

Not too much bad a spam user can do on my site, but I went and deleted 'em and added a Cloudflare managed challenge.

Any advice from people using social features on Wordpress? I'm looking at adding forums
