I only noticed yesterday that this modern 'tenement' filling a gap site in the Woodlands area of Glasgow seems to have re-used original tenement stained glass sash windows. The decorations around the doorway and on the window lintels are also nicely in keeping with traditional tenement architecture and help blend the building in with the older buildings which surround

All in all, a great example of how to blend old and new without destroying the traditional feel of an area. It was designed in 1990s by John Gilbert.

This is one of my favourite murals in Glasgow. Created by Smug, it's painted on the exposed gable end in Govan where a neighbouring tenement building has been demolished. The gap site left behind is now used as a community garden
