I love these tile panels which you occasionally find in tenement closes. They're not as common as the individual decorative tiles or borders, but there are still quite a few around. This one comes from a block of tenements in the Cathcart area of Glasgow.

Monogram on the Glasgow Style warehouse on the corner of Glassford Street and Wilson Street in Glasgow. Built in 1908, it was designed by Robertson and Dobbie for Gordon Brothers. The monogram is that of W.P. Gordon, and I particularly like the dragons ans the greenman at its base.

Someone clearly got fed up with kids ringing their doorbell and then running away! This is on a rather grand townhouse in the West End of Glasgow.

Redlands Mansion on Lancaster Crescent in the West End of Glasgow. Designed by James Boucher in an Italianate style, it was built in 1871 (originally without the front porch) for the Glasgow businessman James Buchanan Mirrlees when the surrounding area was almost all countryside and it has since been swallowed up by the westward expansion of the city.

@sbourne Yes, that deep emerald green was a very popular colour for tiles in Glasgow, but I don't know why. They tiles weren't necessarily made locally, so it's not just a local pigment. I'll need to do some digging to see if I can come up wiyh an answer. 👍🙂

Number 6 Claremont Terrace in the West End of Glasgow. Designed by John Baird in a Classical style, it was originally built in 1842 as a freestanding mansion. This was then expanded in 1847 into the current terrace by adding a row of new townhouses on to either side.

John Barras and Co clock outside a former pub on Victoria Road on the Southside of Glasgow. John Barras was a brewing company founded in 1770 and based in the North East of England. In the 1890s, it merged with three other local brewers to create Newcastle Breweries, who would go on to launch Newcastle Brown Ale in the 1927. In the 1960s, another merger took place with Scottish Brewers to create Scottish and Newcastle Limited.

The former Toledo Cinema on Clarkston Road in Glasgow. Designed by William Beresford Inglis, it was built in 1933 as an Atmospheric Cinema in a Spanish American fantasy style and could seat 1,598. While he designed a number of Glasgow cinemas, Inglis is best known as the architect of his eponymous Beresford Hotel on Sauchiehall Street.
