Good weekend of work. 6x9 set of d4 dice generated numbers translated into 54x3cm red triangles. The 216x1.5cm black triangles are the same d4 numbers set symmetrically over the red pattern.

Grrrrrrrreat outcome Mike! I'm totally hooked on these triangle combinations!

mikebrondbjerg,

@seblammers thanks Seb! Hoped you'd like this one!

This one took a bit of work, but really like the quilting feel of it. Took my earlier #Generative #linocut and added half size stippled black triangles. Rotation of the stippled triangles also set by the roll of a d4. #GenerativeDice #dataart #dataviz

@mikebrondbjerg

Wow, this was well worth the work you put in! Even more fascinating than your earlier linocut.

mikebrondbjerg,

@seblammers cheers Seb. I'm pleased, because a third dimension seems to have appeared out of combining 2 scales and textures. :)

More fun with linocut. Super simple tile. Rotated 4 ways dicated by D4 dice.

@mikebrondbjerg

I did it. But it looks less elegant. I have this rubber stamp set, but the triangles I used are tiny.

mikebrondbjerg,

@seblammers brilliant! Nice try. My triangles are much bigger. 3cm so that makes it easier. I've seen people buy bags of large flat pencil erasers and carve those. That might make a better mark.

Hooray! Finished my Christmas #sashiko sampler. Really enjoyed it, but still lots of refinement needed. I pulled my threads too tight so it has distorted a bit. Going to try some smaller #GenerativeDice #hitomezashi patterns next I think.

mikebrondbjerg,

@_ohcoco_ you need those weird game dice, but 1) roll a d8 dice to pick a colour. 2) roll d20 dice to position on x. 3) roll d20 for y. 4) repeat until bored/looks good. 5) fill unused squares with white.

@mikebrondbjerg Ah - I was wondering how you got both x and y, but of course that makes sense! I think this would be a fun way to teach kids about coordinates :o)

This week's attempt. Less rigid grid, nicer composition. Need to work on drawing smoother lines.

mikebrondbjerg, to random

Trying to understand how to draw isolines from a grid of random values. Not right, and really rough, but you can see where I'm heading hopefully.

@mikebrondbjerg

Looks promising already!

I love that you are working this out on paper before taking it to a digital form.

Because I assume that you plan to do that? Or not?

mikebrondbjerg,

@seblammers thanks seb. Yeah i may never do this digitally. But doing it this way certainly gives you a better feeling for it. I'm actually thinking of doing these as linocuts.. but we'll see ;)
