Put on this old Phil run Tshirt and had to pause when I realized these shows were a quarter century ago. Man, it all goes way too damn fast. #gratefuldead#PhilLeshAndFriends#Deadheads
I can’t say I have a general take on the sporadic #gratefuldead performances from the summer of 1973… except for the luminous quality of the improvisation, featuring one of the great improv themes, The Phil Jazz Jam.

For some reason, the 50th anniversary physical releases of #gratefuldead studio albums do not include a generous portion of studio outtakes or a curation of great live takes of the albums’ songs.
In honor of Bill #Walton I should share not just a pinnacle #GratefulDead jam, and not just one he attended on his home court of Pauley Pavilion at UCLA, but an uncompromisingly long ass jam, too long to embed, because that's what he would've dug the most. Cheers ya big freak

I think the essence of Bill Walton was easy to understand: when you love something, love it with all your heart and passion, without reservation or worrying what anyone else thinks. I think he got everything out of his life that he could, left nothing on the table. To me that's a life well lived
I'm in his core demographic - a dedicated fan of the #nba and #GratefulDead & Portland guy - so he was a big part of the scene for me for decades. I never really knew what he was talking about, but I loved the vibes. And yes he blocked my view at a couple shows, but later through a one degree of separation thing I got to sit in his seats at a #TrailBlazers game, and they were the best seats I've ever had, so we'll call it even.

What is the correct setlist for #GratefulDead's Rockin' The Rhein? Wikipedia mentions a third set, the archive.org has the same ordering as the official release, and deadlists begs to differ. :/
@mrcompletely I think #gratefuldead “type 2,” full-band improv is self-evident throughout their history (if you’re willing to break it out). However, distinctions get dicey in the long “Space” era. I have curated what I consider to many “type 2s” inside partial-band Space passages, but breaking those out in an index of Dead music would likely slide into hopeless subjectivity. Where is that line?!
