Within that time, he had 3 sons and 4 daughters. Unlike other kings before & at the same time, he did not give any high positions to his sons. He would eventually #marry all the #boys into advantageous alliances but forbade all daughters to do so. The 3 we know of were all made to become nuns, but seemingly, not abbesses. In 1959, 5 yrs after its construction, the Malpassant Dam regulating the Reyran river, catastrophically collapsed. A 4m high wave rushed at a speed of 70km/h through the area, destroying 2 villages. 423 people #died. This led to many women requesting posthumous weddings, primarily to protect unborn children from being seen as illegitimate. In 2019, a French woman married a lieutenant killed in Mali. #history #ghost
