@avuko I have a very neurodiverse family. My two stepsons are autistic. One of them has tourette's and bipolar. Me and my biokids have severe . We all have lots of sleep issues. Thus, we have taking for a couple of decades. My boy with has the hardest time with sleep. His neurologist told us to not be shy with the melatonin. We've found a level that's right for him, and he takes it about 2 hours before bedtime. The other kids take a smaller dose about 30 minutes around bedtime.

Also, we found spray melatonin more effective than pills. Here's the brand we use:

Melatonin commonly taken by kids not a magic bullet, pediatricians say.
Parents should be cautious: “…parents often reported giving melatonin for more than 12 months, but research on its long-term safety in kids and teens is lacking.”

In fact such use is considered off label.

I've started a cure, even though there is litterature about autism and melatonin, I'm not optimistic.

consumer-oriented YouTube science show which is generally well-done.

    Goes into:
-- ADHD and sleep disorders overlaps
-- Chicken and the egg problem -- which comes first
-- Altered Circadian Rhythm & ADHD correlation
-- Sleep Onset Insomnia: Is treating it a way to improve ADHD symptoms
(pretty much YES, although more research would be good)

Lots of research, although mostly children's studies. Should many
people with ADHD be taking melatonin?

A new study, which summarizes hundred other studies, found that melatonin can extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables, by slowing down their ripening and decay. This could save millions of tons of food from being thrown away every year, and benefit both the environment and the economy.
