KING MAKER is the first book of Maurice Broaddus’ ambitious KNIGHTS OF BRETON COURT trilogy, a unique re-telling of the #Arthurian legend, playing out on the crime ridden streets of an African-American neighbourhood in Indianapolis. Check out my review to find out if the book warrants the plaudits that describe it as The Wire meets Excalibur. @bookstodon
An imaginative, feminist, and brilliantly relevant-to-today retelling of Orwell’s 1984, from the point of view of Winston Smith’s lover, Julia, by critically acclaimed novelist Sandra Newman.
The multimillion-copy bestselling story of Wicked comes full circle in The Witch of Maracoor, the final installment of Gregory Maguire’s Another Day series.
I loved SCARLET so much that I read it last night in one sitting then came to work today and grabbed another Cogman, THE INVISIBLE LIBRARY. I didn't know I needed a Scarlet Pimpernel retelling with vampires, but this novel is oodles better than it sounds! What a ripping yarn! @bookstodon#bookstodon#sff#fantasy
@kimlockhartga@likewise I have 67 books tagged "retelling" in Librarything! A few I really love are The Penepoliad by Margaret Atwood, Circe by Madeline Miller, Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher, and the Fractured Fairytales by Alix E. Harrow! #retelling#mythology#fairytale#sff@bookstodon#bookstodon
I associate Jon Klassen work with delicious dark humor, originality and beautiful art. The Skull is no different. Retelling of a Tyrolean Folktale, it is the story of an unexpected friendship, a growing experience for Otilla, the young heroine, and a dark gothic tale that will make young readers shiver with excitement and anticipation.
