To clarify: I don’t oppose self-checkout, I oppose the fact that after at least a decade of trying, the software is still crap, there are too many problems requiring operator intervention, and people are shit using them. (2/2) #Safeway
During my recent visit to your store, the self check-out machine experienced a problem in weighing an item, after I had scanned it. Despite this being a common occurrence, the machine's display immediately cut to a video of me. The clear implication is that I had been shoplifting: in fact, we both know that your decision to implement this technology was due to increasing rates of shoplifting.
While video monitoring would be expected, this intimidation is not.
I posted an article on Post.news providing a #COVID19 update. Summary: Signals suggest we are already starting our holiday surge. Even in this supposed lull period, 8x more people were hospitalized last week with COVID than flu. And new studies suggest Long COVID may be getting worse with newer variants. I share a couple of hard rules (get the new jab, stay home if sick) and a few recommended practices.
@augieray We may be, but don't believe #Safeway when they say "Walk-ins welcome" for COVID vaccines. I was turned away by the in-store pharmacy with a wave of the hand and a "Not today."
What urgency. If clinicians don't give a you-know-what, the public learns to not get their shots, too. What percentage of us has gotten them so far? No urgency from those who provide the shots leads to guys like me wasting $15 on a Lyft ride I wouldn't have taken had Safeway not advertised "Walk-ins welcome."
If you have scheduled for new #COVID vax you may want to call. #CVS here just advised there will be no doses by Monday. I called #Safeway where son was signed up and they confirmed. Said maybe Wednesday. So I think I’ll shift to Friday and see if that holds.
Annoyingly, yet another sub-$10 personal care product I have to start ordering on Amazon because our local #Safeway started locking them up. 🙄🙄🙄 I now have to order all my shampoo, conditioner, drugstore skincare stuff, and sunscreens online, except for one hair care product I can get at the Ocean Ave. Whole Foods.
