I like Linux Mint Cinnamon. It has a nice desktop, and a good collection of apps to begin with.

It has a nice package manager on the bottom bar. To delve deeper to see more detail about available apps, under Administration, choose synaptic.

It comes with a nice Libre Office bundle for documents, spreadsheets, etc., and you won't get hit up for a subscription. It's free & very compatible.

I spent way too much time today disassembling two bicycle wheels, so that I could begin the process of transplanting this Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub into a 27 inch rim that will fit my road bike.

While I had the hub free of a wheel, I ended up partially disassembling it so I could clean it and grease it, since it felt pretty gunky and sticky when spinning.

I was too scared to take it completely apart because there are a lot of little pieces inside, but I took it apart enough to get it working well again. It looks much nicer now too

@Catawu @ai6yr It's both. It's a temporary bike lane along the proposed route to give cyclists a chance to test it out and provide feedback to incorporate in a Fall 2024 proposal to get approval to actually make a bike lane there. This is the Weird Phase of bike lane development.

@joy @ai6yr It's well inland of the San Andreas except for one recent one, a 2.1 wsw of the SF Zoo. There are 2 swarms in So Cal that are not on the San Andreas, also. I don't know which faults they are on, but they are not the San Andreas by the USGS map.

Yay! Finally, the vehicle won't start at all... rather than being intermittent. New starter or cables needed, likely. Has been spotty for months, but neither I nor my mechanic had been able to diagnose it since it was so intermittent. Intermittent car problems are worse than car problems.

@ai6yr One time I had a bad starter motor & barely got the car to start, so I drove it to Kragen's and removed the starter motor in their parking lot. Got a rebuilt. Installed it. Spun the wrong way. Took it out. Got another. Installed it. Spun the wrong way. Took it out. Stood with the clerk testing starter motors. Bad batch from rebuilders. Had one good one. Installed it. Worked fine. Finally stopped cursing.

Apparently, nuking Gaza is identical to bunker-busting bombs vs tunnels, & I'm blind for disagreeing. It's all Biden's fault, never Netanyahu's. She hammers on Biden constantly - more than most Republicans here. Never Putin. Never Trump. I'm tired of it.

The local dispensary is beautiful inside. I haven't asked whose ideas went into the remodeling, but I suspect they're from the woman with good taste in clothing who chats with customers. It's a franchise but the others don't look anywhere near as tasteful inside. Plus a couple of comfy chairs. They give customer loyalty points, good for branded gear or weed products. Prices stayed low. Drive-up to-the-car deliveries, but no home delivery yet.
