To look pretty for people to try out different brands of bed because we like to not figure out a universal solution to the problem of making a comfortable healthy platform of material that we can lay upon for long term rest. On top of that, instead of supplying our nation with affordable housing and furniture, it is laughably ignored.

You can just walk up to them and talk, but since they are sitting in one of these chairs, they likely will want a brief conversation and be left alone. Also, socializing in other places like a bar or in a park is not outlawed. Do try to be friendly and courteous. The best way to start a conversation is by introducing yourself. Then, hop into what you wanted to talk about. Maybe even try to start with a topic that can transition to your final goal. In the end, there is an intention behind every social interaction, and it can either be casual or formal. Maybe that is what you are desiring, for a known intention/goal to connect with others.

Windows keeps the computer awake and does not do sleep like it used to anymore. S3 sleep, that is. Keeps wifi connected and all that jazz. Battery drain is significantly worse now.
Chevy bolt at least has half of the features but still quite a few, I would say a very set of features to include, but I do imagine it would only shave less than 5k if the bolt had the most basic of features. That means it would be 1-2k cheaper as a used vehicle. I do think it’s the more reasonable priced vehicle, and we need more competitors to this vehicle. On the other hand, most of the cost is the battery and it just something researchers must be paid to bring innovations for and its just not reasonable to pay them cheap as they are doing a great thing for humanity. However, this forces companies to charge higher prices and should instead be subsidized without trademark/IP protections restricting its adoption.
This is why KVM/QEMU with virtio drivers are massively helpful in using windows specific software without needing to dualboot on short notice. Proton also helps run many games on Linux, which is Windows only. Too bad the biggest strength is also a weakness. Yes, they are being paid less. Technology is supposed to free us from mundane tasks and make things cheaper. However, neither one of these occurs because of greed and poor management. So in reality if technology is paying us less, it should also be making things cheaper for us. There is clearly a discrepancy and we should demand for lower prices or higher wages, or both as a compromise. The compromise cannot be lower wages and higher prices, that is economically destructive and fuels greed and class wars.

Same situation, I have the bolt and volt cars and I drive about the same with the caveat that I coast more often to a stop and make full use of being plugged in at home for warming up or cooling down the car. Really, all you need to know about driving an ev or a hybrid. Everything else is just extra stuff to take care of and make better use of the dollar savings you get with an EV.
On the flipside, I know too many people who don’t care how hard they drive the accelerator and brakes that they would rather get a gas car because of how fast they consume and prioritize time spent fueling vs charging. Really, I save close to 2k/year more than those who drive semi efficiently, and about double that amount vs. the people who are economically irresponsible. Also, I meet a lot of tesla owners who do users using the tesla superchargers who are complaining about how garbage their battery life after 3 years of driving for Uber(20% of degradation). It makes sense why people don’t want to drive an EV. They just don’t want to slow their lives down. They want to constantly keep doing stuff and do it fast. It’s amazing how much instant gratification has made everyone’s lives worse. Even people like me who go slow have to deal with their BS.

This has to be bait, there is plenty of work that can be done and lots of research to do and plenty of cash to go around. Its the overwhelming greed from the richest people in the world that hold their wealth instead of letting it flow in the economy. And how is it a bad thing that it is making good use of the heat around the furnace to heat up water? You do realize that the electricity in the heat pump also is making some heat on its own.
All that energy can be harvested for a hot shower or bath instead of having a heat pump outside in the colder temps running at a lower efficiency. On top of that, the furnace will not always be running throughout the year, and the warmer months will be more beneficial to have the heat pump than a gas water heater.
I am assuming that the heat pump water tank and gas furnace are in the basement, or garage. not inside the well insulated house…
On top of that, the hot air is directed out of the gas furnace to the house, while the air surrounding the gas furnace is lost heat that can be scavenged by the heat pump. They are independent and work for separate reasons.

Did you read the articles where they are talking about heat pump water heaters? There is even a mention of placing the tank on the roof. This is a dead end conversation. I am not going to argue about this as it does not help or will convince people up north how to install their water heaters. Its a moot topic and this should just die. I said my piece and you said yours. I am still convinced that having the gas furnace and heat pump combo is a good way of going about the whole setup.
The article I linked about Washington state says that new built homes have to install heat pump water heaters. This means its not a question on which to choose but how to make the heat pump water heated tanks more effeciently sound. This topic is a moot point, and should be let go.
Clearly washington knows that the long-term solution to replacing gas appliances is with heat pump. Its a state that is north and was used as an example for a place that is much colder than southern states that you claimed would only make sense for heat pump water heaters to be sensible in.
The conclusion is simple: you must replace a gas furnace or resistive/radiant electric heat with an HVAC heat pump before you will save energy from a heat pump water heater during winter.
Then for anyone making the switch, they should get the heat pump powered equipment when they can, be it if the water heater is replaced before the hvac unit or vice versa. Logically speaking there is not downside to having a heat pump water heater next to the gas furnace. It does not need to heat up a large volume the size of the house, only a tank of water. It is still efficient and the losses you claim are negligible or measurably not there.
