Every monster collector out there tries to reinvent the Pokémon formula, but if I were to create one, it’d be like Digimon World 1: a semi-open world with a vivid sense of wonder and exploration, and fully-fledged pet raising mechanics.

I can’t fathom how beating up wild animals, forcefully capturing them, and pitting them against other animals in a government-sanctioned tournament is supposed to evoke a feeling of friendship and adventure.

I just want more in-depth mechanics to raise my magical animal, and more ways to interact with them outside of battles.

People should just stop thinking about gaming journalism as a monolith, and start thinking of it as any other job. Some people are capable of doing it and they show it, others are completely incapable of writing a decent article without resorting to snarky comments or biased opinions.

A local website in my language employs a YTuber as a reviewer for reviews on games that he is a sponsor of on his channel, and those articles are laughable to say the least (I’m not going to name the games nor the person). But I’ve also read good articles on the same website, written by people who actually care about their job and have the skills to do it well.

But for some reason, gamers keep parroting this awful opinion of gaming journalists being incapable of playing games or having opinions on things. No, it’s just that certain journalists are better than others. (And for god’s sake, people should stop using the Cuphead video as a talking point. It was not a true review, it was a joke video, ffs)

My man invented time travel to buy a PS5, but alas, it didn’t work.

I don’t like trash food and I don’t drink energy drinks (only water), but I enjoy taking a food break during sessions, mostly because it allows me to stand up, stretch a bit and go take whatever I may want to eat that day, which improves my attention span in the second half of the session.

Sometimes it’s some fruits, others it’s a pack of potato chips or just a cup of coffee. During winter I’ll most certainly toast some bread with cheese and salumi, to keep myself warm!

I’m Italian, so it’s not difficult for me to buy brands that use high quality ingredients and are still fairly cheap to buy. And if the session stretches through dinner, it’s pizza time for everyone! Although it’s been a while since I last played a session in person, because my party is scattered all over the country, forcing us to meet online.

Maybe it’s because I’m not a Fallout fan, but I didn’t like that one either. I didn’t finish it, to be fair, but I watched the first 3-4 episodes and I found it nonsensical for the most part.

From people and animals healing within seconds of them injecting some sort of Jesus juice, to armor suits protecting against explosions and extreme fall damage but not angry bears, or people living for centuries in the surface but from the looks of it the apocalypse happened just two days earlier, with no one bothering to clean up their own house a bit. In one scene you see soldiers wearing thick metal armor flying around on helicopters, in the next scene there’s people using bottle caps as a barter resource.

And that’s just about the verisimilitude of the setting and the events. The writing felt very amateurish/childish for the most part. Again, I have no reference to the source material, but from an outside perspective, I wasn’t impressed.

The visuals are very good (not ground-breaking by any means, but they do their job well), but that’s the extent of the praise I’d give to that series.

I gave Amazon the benefit of the doubt with Wheel of Time. Never again.

I was also struggling to understand the six-letter one. English is not my main language, so I was very confused.

It lives! I was starting to lose my hopes on this storyline ever receiving an update lol

I fully expect an Eda + Ayzee team up on the next page! And it will be glorious.

Although maybe that’d be too easy? Like, surely these guys have planned for the Owl Lady joining the battle on the side of her nephew, right?

@Aielman15@lemmy.world avatar

I understand, Eda. Losing a pet is always a traumatic experience :(

Such a powerful ending. It gave me goosebumps from beginning to end, but ESPECIALLY at the very end. The symbolism of King and Luz getting a scar in the same place. King’s sacrifice. Silence, rain. Luz’s deadpan expression and Gus crying. And then the nice touch of Hunter keeping Gus under his arm, as a big brother would.

I’m sad we didn’t get more Owl House content, but I’m happy we got to see this. To quote the Wheel of Time: “It wasn’t the ending, but it was an ending”.

I like writing, and my deepest wish is, one day, to be able to write something capable of moving other people the same way authors such as Dana Terrace moved me with their works.

When I read of historical conquerors and dictators, I always wonder where the heck do they get their drive to do all that.

Like, I struggle to wake up on mondays, spend wednesdays hoping that the weekend comes soon, and on saturday I lay on the sofa and do nothing for 24 hours straight.

This guy invaded a foreign land he didn’t need just because he felt barely offended by the words of its inhabitants. He should’ve appreciated the humour and moved on imo, but maybe that’s just me.

Vee was great at the end of S03E01 against Belos. I wish we got to see more of her. I mean, the fandom loves her already and she only made an appearance in, like, two episodes over three seasons? We deserved more Vee.

I haven’t watched the show and I don’t know what exactly this meme is referencing, but I kind of get the idea.

Why, that’s like being told to go up in the hills and find lions, only you do not know whether there are any lions, but if there are, they may be hunting you, and they may be disguised as bushes. Oh, and if you find any lions, try not to let them eat you before you can tell where they are.

That’s some serious dedication! Luz truly is something else :3

On a side note, Amity should NOT go explore caves on her own. The danger of something happening and her getting stuck somewhere deep underground and with no way to call for help is very real.

A Little Hint of Blue ends just a little more than eight months after its inception (Sep 19 2023 - May 24 2024).

The end of something is always emotional. It doesn’t help that this also comes just a little later than the one-year anniversary of the last episode of the tv series.

This one and Grom+sequels have accompanied us for such a long time! They really helped me get over my post-series depression. Hitting an ending to a story I like always gets to me, but having a new page every day and even new storylines such as this one to look forward to, has been a life saver.

And although I wasn’t as interested in this storyline as in Ayzee’s storyline, I still had fun and it had some great moments, especially with Fled’s character arc and all the fight scenes!

I hope that, now that this one’s ended, Mark will continue Hexsquad and especially Ayzee’s story. Both of them have been on hiatus for two months now :(

According to Wikipedia, it was announced in 2021. It seems like a pretty normal development cycle to me.

That one’s Indiana Jones and the staff of kings, which has nothing to do with this title. This one was in pre-production in 2021, announced the same year, and revealed in early 2024 to be released later the same year.

Why get a fluffy pet when you can get a shapeshifter that can turn into all fluffy pets?

While dropping in the last few days of comics, I realize we don’t have a Timeline tag for timeskip-era when Luz and Amity are adults but not part of an ongoing storyline. It looks like you’ve just been calling those Post Finale? That might need a little review

You have a point. I suppose it would be best to use “Next generation” (or maybe change the name to “Adults/Next gen” so that it covers both), as they are theoretically the same time period.

Contrast also calls our character listing into question now too. I’m find with listing everyone seen, even in cameos, but what if they’re completely unseen, with no dialogue, but explicitly confirmed to be in the area?

I’d say no, because that opens a huge can of worms. I think it would get too difficult to take into account who might be in the general area, and in some cases, it would make for a messy tag system, mostly in established storylines where multiple pages happen in the same location/time frame, but characters drop in and out of view (such as aLHoB or Grom Factor). For example, the students fighting Kikimora in aLHoB change every other page (the Fear chars only appear in the beginning and the end of the fight, Jerbo only in the end, Boscha appears in the beginning and in the aftermath, etc…). If someone is trying to look for all the appearances of a certain character, it’s going to get real messy really soon if the tagging gets made on a “who is in the vicinity” policy.

Tagging only characters that physically appear in the page will also be useful to run some stats on chars appearances after we’re done! I’d be really curious to see the results of a list of chars sorted by number of appearances.

Timeskip=>Adult/Next Gen and how we distinguish before/after S3 in the Human Realm (how do we do that? just assume one or the other unless its obvious?). That

Yeah, I’ve had this problem a bunch of times :/ I just try to infer as many info as possible from the page:

  • If the Hexsquad is in Luz’s house, it’s almost certainly set during S2-S3.
  • Certain characters make it obvious, such as Flapjack (pre-S3), Waffles and Bean (post-S3), Masha (post-S3).
  • If the characters don old outfits, it could mean that it’s set in that season (although it’s not always the case). For this purpose, Luz’s scar and King’s cracked skull/glued horn can also help identify the timeline.
  • If a page references multiple time periods (such as “He Tripped.” and “Phases”) I tag the most recent one.

If it’s genuinely impossible to distinguish between pre and post-S3, I just default to post-finale. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than leaving the box blank, I guess. I thought about introducing a “non specified” timeline box, but I feared that it would become unwieldy and a bit confusing for some people.
