Still can’t believe it’s been 30 years to the day since #Babylon5 first broadcast.

One of the best sci-fi series ever made.

First show to use CGI this extensively.

First show to have a proper Internet fandom.

First show to have what we’d now call a “show runner.”

If you haven’t watched it yet, give it a go.

Yes season 1 is a bit slow, but once the actions picks up in s2 you’ll be glued since “No one is exactly who they appear.” -G’kar

last time I went to Camp in 2015, I took a sleeper to Amsterdam to catch my flight home. The train ran just late enough where I had to actually get out a stop early to catch another train that would ensure I arrived at Schiphol on time.

Almost thankful in retrospect I did not have my massive Pelican case that was lost (the airline returned it to me three weeks later).

One of the more intriguing things I’ve worked out, at least in myself:

Laughter is healing.

And laughter is diagnostic.

In my deepest, darkest moments, the ones , I can’t laugh or make jokes. That’s my biggest red flag that Something Is Wrong.

If I’m capable of a joke that isn’t self-deprecating and laughing, I’m probably ok.

This goes for physical health as well as mental health.

Intriguing that people who subscribe to hateful ideologies can’t make or take a joke, though.

#Ethical question:

You get something knowing that you’ll get a few extra things with it.

You know there are people out there that need those extra things more than you do. Needs to be delivered since they’re not mobile.

You still have the benefit of that original thing you obtained.

It only costs time to get the extra things to those who need them. No financial hit. No risk.

But you do know time’s a factor.

Do you deliver those things or do you hold onto them?

Far too many of us are caught up in the news of the day.

We want to be informed. Totally get it.

I know I want to know what’s up.

But until Saturday, don’t take in any commercial news.

If you’re in the US, you’ll hear MLK quotes out of context anyways.

No CNN, no MSNBC, no Daily Show, no Big Three.

NPR, PBS, local NFP news, ok.

Not-for-profit, not for-profit.

So it looks like I may have a weird reason my mental health took a dive over the last month.

I may have had a cardiac issue.

Brain registered that stress and freaked out.

Kudos to the doctor today that figured out I might have an issue.

Middle fingers to the thrice damned hospital that ordered this same test and missed that it showed a potential problem.

Spoke to a lovely Senegalese man and Ivorian lady on the bus this evening.

They were talking about #Ramadan and wondered how their coreligionists experiencing midnight sun would fast since there’s no night.

Pointed out there are accommodations for them. Shared info I learned as a student of religions.

Things shifted into sharing Malcolm X’s insights gained on the hajj. Mentioned it’s nicer to figure out how all humans are equally human without expensive air travel.

They laughed. :)
