ArmoredThirteen,

We had a hideabed couch as a kid. Some days the bored theme was seeing how far we could wedge ourselves in there without unfolding everything. I’m sure it was totally safe to be contorted through a bunch of steel bars and springs

ArmoredThirteen,

And humid, internet is saying they’re at like 50% humidity right now

ArmoredThirteen,

Like half of my job is writing .bat files to automate stuff locally and not tell my boss that all I do anymore is double click the right things in the right order…

ArmoredThirteen,

This is part of why I still have manual kickoffs for mine. Never need to worry about work getting done while I’m away or getting done suspiciously fast. Also they should have paid you lol, the dingdongs. Would cost a lot more just in work lost having someone else spend time deciphering and fixing it. They could always get someone else up to speed with the system after it is fixed by you so there’s little or no down time

ArmoredThirteen,

Okay so the dumb part is a lot of this is me abstracting away our complex build system. I’ve basically bubble-gummed a dedicated build system in top of it for only the tasks I do. At a certain point if I start adding configurations or timing I might as well just wrap it in gradle or something. But the system that I’m calling is already their attempt at simplifying another build system that’s underneath it that was written by the old guard using arcane sorcery. The whole thing is a mess

ArmoredThirteen,

Well I work from home so I do keep my room dark, I like to have a blanket over my shoulders, it’s not uncommon for me to just be in my underwear… Honestly I’m most of the way there

ArmoredThirteen,

When I’m dreaming the architecture has a lot of features like this. Check out images of Jiufen in Taiwan for some next level stairs

When was the last time you felt helpless in life?

I’m 24 and dealing with high blood pressure. I’ve seen five doctors, had countless tests, and they all say the same thing: “Take these pills and try to reduce pressure in your life.” It’s as though my blood pressure and heart rate have minds of their own, fluctuating freely without any reason....

ArmoredThirteen,

I’m in my 30s and feel completely hopeless right now. It comes and goes, I’ll be great for a few years then everything collapses for a few. Right now I’m staring down an expensive major surgery, losing a series of very important people in my life, divorce, work burnout. Just got to take it as best you can and try to find some goals to point toward

My current hobbies include doing as many physical activities as I can to keep my mind off things, painting minis, and playing ukulele. Do what you can to have good sleeping habits. My sleep is garbage and it makes everything 10x harder. As always, don’t forget to drink water

Seeing people around you partying, having gone through my own drugs and alcohol phase, it’s not all that worth it really. At least for me at any rate. I was much happier after I got a better feel for what I actually wanted in life instead of trying to use alcohol to fit in. I was like 27-28 when I figured that out

ArmoredThirteen,

Thank you, I’m slowly working through it. The surgery at least is a good thing even if it is having its way with my savings and the recovery is going to be wild. Been like two years of wait list, delays, prep, and it is coming together in about 6 weeks! After that all goes through I get to start un-fucking the rest of my life x.x

ArmoredThirteen,

Every time I hear about Idaho it gets worse ffs. I hope my nieces can get the fuck out of there when they’re old enough

ArmoredThirteen,

Tree prison wouldn’t be getting planted in a field, it would be getting stuck next to a high traffic stroad with like a foot of root room on either side

ArmoredThirteen,

Don’t give the capitalists any ideas 😞

ArmoredThirteen,

People put plates in drawers? I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do that ever

ArmoredThirteen,

Yeah that’s what I was thinking, never heard it called pigeon management before

ArmoredThirteen,

Rip that bong, doc, I want to live the American dream of getting a payout

ArmoredThirteen,

That things looks like any sprint further than about 10 feet would cause it to drop dead from genetic erosion

ArmoredThirteen,

You’ve clearly not been exposed to the wonders of yesteryears jello and aspic abominations

ArmoredThirteen,

Yeah I’ve got all kinds of tricks like that. Leaving things on the ground to spell out a reminder, if you can add custom map tags or signs I’ll do notes there, sometimes it’s having a system like “if I’m pointing at the ground it means I am not in the middle of anything important and I need to choose my next steps”

ArmoredThirteen,

Morrowind fangirl here for duty. I love that games journal system

ArmoredThirteen,

Your college had a mirror above the urinals?

ArmoredThirteen,

I’m trans and have surgery coming up so I’m often trying to research a lot of stuff related to that. Seems half the useful info out there is on Reddit and I have to get around the fucking NSFW wall all the time. I’m so frustrated that so much of that information got tied up there and in discord channels

ArmoredThirteen,

Axolotls are nearly if not already extinct in the wild. Hobbyists and researchers are the only thing keeping them in existence. Everyone adores seeing my axolotls and get emotionally invested in them almost immediately, which provides a very tangible in person thing for them to think about. It’s a good jumping off point for talking about what’s happening with lakes and rivers.

There are some things we shouldn’t take from the wild. Like I believe sourcing completely natural live rock is unethical as corals have it hard enough and it’s super easy to farm our own live rock. Some things it’s fine and can even help preserve them or teach people about conservation. I learned so much back when I took care of a marine tank. I have a much stronger understanding of how intricate and fragile our ecosystem can be and people should be allowed to learn and see that for themselves

ArmoredThirteen,

What does being a hobbyist taking care of an aquarium have to do with eating fish?
