People will get their money back and their kids, and grandkids, and great grandkids, and great great grandkids will all get to enjoy all the ewaste. Everyone wins!
That’s a pretty big joke, but I think the bigger joke is calling LLMs AI. We taught linear algebra to talk real pretty and now corps want to use it to completely subsume our lives.
Here’s some of the ones that keep me more on my Subscribed feed rather than all, to help keep things up beat. They’re all pretty active and I haven’t seen them in other comments yet.
the leaked documents make note of several types of clicks users make and indicate they feed into ranking pages in search.
So we’ve confirmed that all the pop-ups, special offers, cookie prompts, “what’s new” overlays, and slideshows are probably pushing sites up to the top of search. Google has been pouring gas on the fire of things that annoy people about the open web.

The one stipulation I’d put on living forever is the ability to change with the universe.
Sure, if you’re a god that changes things. Otherwise I’d live in fear of the eternity that is still left after there’s nothing left to experience. In a couple hundred billion years all the stars will be dead. In a trillion years all mater will have decayed into iron and be so spread out that you could never get from one lump of iron to the next even at superluminal speed. A trillion years is the blink of an eye compared to forever.
There is nothing that could be done to make me want to live for eternity. Do you know what’s boring after a billion years? Everything. Do you know how many billions are in infinity? All of them.
Eternity means that one day you’ll outlive the last black hole and you’ll be the only thing in a universe with, effectively, nothing but your imagination to keep you busy.
Officially I work 8 hours of my choice between 7am and 7pm with 30 minutes lunch.
In practice I work at least 8 hours (most often about 8.5), usually get a lunch, have to be at my desk at 8:30 for standup, and am always on call to some degree. If any of our infrastructure isn’t working then I am, but after hours stuff isn’t all that common.
Whenever I have to use the Android Play Store and I search for the exact thing that I want and the first result is an ad for that thing, I click on the ad instead of the same item in the natural results just to cost them money.
Hadn’t seen this here yet, a co-worker of mine sent it my way so I’m just spreading the word. Looks interesting, to say the least! Anyone tried this out or had any other experience with it yet?
I can sort of see the appeal, but its not for me. If anything is ever going to rename files for me its going to be a script that I’ve either written or at least read top to bottom. Not a blackbox inference engine, and especially not one based on an LLM.
I’ve been trying to remember but it hasn’t come back to me. It was a 2D, top down, space battle game. Its possible it wasn’t named after Star Trek, but you pilot a grey ship with a saucer section and nacelles to fire torpedoes and phasers at green bird of prey looking ships so…
That all sounds very familiar. The one I played was full color but it must have either been a late version of Empire or something heavily “inspired” by it.
