@COMPU73E insanity really.
Especially for 4 as that one didn’t get a remake announcement yet.
You’d think that VG+ would have learned their lesson with the sellout of 3, but I guess that the amount was locked in by that time.
I can’t imagine they had more than a few hundred copies at best.
@COMPU73E what a great statement. 🤩
That is on par with mashing enter to just get into the action with Doom. I read somewhere that the early ID Software games were designed that way to minimize "time to action". How did we end up with these minute long wait times for publisher, studio, audio, physics, dev environment, whatever modules... just let me play my game.
Picked this up from Amazon cheap, I remember wanting to play it when it came out, but promptly forgot all about it. Was reminded the other day when the news came out about the studio closing. Feel kinda sad
Started on Hard difficulty and got wrecked by literally the first enemy I fought, they take a lot of hits and my aim isn't very good 😅 back down to Normal until I get a bit better...
I couldn't be less interested in any future UBI games if I tried, they might as well go the whole way, fire all their developers and just let AI generate their games from a template
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds it reminds me a bit of when EA put out Dead Space and Mirror's Edge in the space of about a year and everyone thought "oh EA are good now" and look how that turned out
@COMPU73E Exactly, I wasn’t fooled for a second because it was just a random chance thing for them. Jedi Fallen Order had been in a similar situation, it was just a public image bandaid which could easily be ripped off. As a company, EA were never changing because profits and dark pattern tactics are in the game!
\sees that the GAMERS™ are mad that a black guy is in the new Assassin's Creed game, much definitely not racist complaining about "muh historical accuracy"
@COMPU73E I've taken to checking gaming sites. For the most part those major sites end up catching a lot of news related to new game announcements without the twenty pounds of filth heaped on top.
I'm so glad that I deleted my Twitter account, as I know that it would hurt my mental health in the future due to Space Karen being the worst. 🙃
@COMPU73E
It’s incredible how they all think that it’s something that will wow people and draw them in.
While it gets a similar reaction from me as NFTs. 😅
Did a boss fight in Nier Automata last night, and right after it finished I had to watch it again on YouTube because the boss was saying stuff about the plot all while the fight was happening and I couldn't pay attention to what he was saying because I was too busy trying to not get killed
This is honestly one of the weirdest most inconsistent games I ever played. Some bits of it are genuinely 10/10 and then other bits are like they let the intern loose on their first day
@COMPU73E 🤣
Yes. Exactly this.
Wanna hear something maddening? Slight spoilers I guess, but I'm not sure which fight you mean...if you get the drift. 😅
@COMPU73E Oofta, I dislike boss fights that drop lore for this reason! Thankfully, I was able to multitask and absorb the plot and stay alive. I would’ve preferred that the dialogue would only happen before or after. As there are people who can’t multitask, it would make it easier for them to limit dialogue during fights.
Well now I'm past the awful tutorial section I'm really enjoying Nier Automata. It's one of those "how tf did they even get this running on Switch" games, like Witcher 3
@COMPU73E it's definitely not for everyone. I managed to beat it and enjoyed "most" of it, but I also wasn't madly in love with the rapdily switching perspectives and gameplay modes.
I still recommend reading up on all the cool stuff or watch some YouTube videos when you decide to abandon it. 🙂
Not putting a save point anywhere in the first 50 minute section of Nier: Automata and making you repeat the whole thing if you die vs the boss at the end is certainly an interesting design decision 😡 I nearly put the game down right there
Not sure I've got the motivation to carry on playing a game that disrespectful of the players time
@COMPU73E I feel your fury, as that was the wildest opening section ever! 50 minutes without a save point feels criminally offensive, as it’s a slap in the face for anyone that wanted a quick boss retry! Or was in need of a break and didn’t want to leave the game paused. It’s truly inexcusable in the modern gaming scene. I had to do that section twice, as I died the first time. Almost put it down completely (somehow persevered).
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds@COMPU73E It's cool how the game seamlessly flows between vertical scrolling shmup, top-down shooter and so on.
Not sure if later sections repeat that, from what I've seen it's pretty much 3rd person hack & slash after the opening?
So maybe the devs wanted to make sure many people experience these cool transitions more than once. :P
Made it to the final boss in Eiyuden Chronicle Rising... and that's as far as I'm going. Had a couple of goes at it but there isn't a checkpoint outside the boss room, and it's so much more difficult than anything that has come before, so fuck that noise. Gonna YouTube the ending and call it done
Why do games do this? Put a massive difficulty spike right at the end
@COMPU73E If they would foreshadow that difficulty spike and give you an area to grind it wouldn’t be a huge issue to me. However, without warning it irks me and that makes me drop a game! Especially if I want to roll credits but can’t because a boss is on the extreme side. 🙃
