CameronDev,

Can you even buy 500 GB HDDs these days? I can get 1tb drives from my local Officeworks for $63AUD, but that’s pretty uneconomical when you can get 10tb drives for $360AUD.

Get the largest SSD you can, and buy a HDD later on when you can afford it. You can get slight discounts on HDDs by buying external hard drives and “Shucking” them (removing the casing and using the disk inside). You may need to do some research to work out if it’s possible for the drive you want to buy though, not all are shuckable

CameronDev,

Can you clarify what you mean with an example? Sounds like you want the pranker to tell the prankee what is happening before it happens? Which in most cases kills the concept?

CameronDev,

Ah, that’s reasonable I guess

How do we build "this is not a place of honor" signs for the internet for future generations?

CameronDev,

We don’t? The problem with nuclear waste is that it lasts millenia, and is super dangerous if your not aware of it. Nothing in the internet really falls into that category, and if it did, we can just delete it.

It’s important to archive culturally important data, not so much dangerous and harmful data.

CameronDev,

Portainer has a free tier for 3 nodes, it’s the full portainer, just limited to 3 nodes. May be worth a try.

Qubes is not a gateway OS from Windows or Mac. I hope you’re not suggesting new users switch to it. That is a great way to poison any sentiment towards Linux.

CameronDev,

I wrote a period app for my partner, everything is encrypted and never leaves the device.

It has a option where you can set false passwords, so that if you are being compelled to unlock it, it will get up fake data.

Code is open source: github.com/cameroncros/PrivatePeriodTracker

play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cross.p…

It may not meet your needs, but perhaps worth a look. I am open to adding features (except for ads and tracking obviously).

(I have posted this before, but with an inappropriate account)

CameronDev,

Pretty unlikely that I ever port to iPhone, I dont have one to dev on. To be honest, my partner doesnt even use it, so it was a little bit of a waste of time, except for a learning opportunity.

CameronDev,

Texas is exactly why I wrote it. I wish my app was a waste of time and no one ever needs it :(

CameronDev,

I have Crohn’s disease and my partner thinks I have ADHD, so that basically confirms your theory. What more data could you want?

CameronDev,

I think your data point disproves the original claim, which was more pooping == ADHD. Given your data point disproves the claim, I say we ignore it. Science. :D

CameronDev,

I want that as well, one of the German instances has a number of popular German communities, so I want to block them all (language barrier), but their users often comment in English elsewhere, which also gets blocked. I am using Connect, which lets you block by instance, but it’s a bit over aggressive.

CameronDev,

Headline next week: “Hundreds of slightly used drones hit eBay”

CameronDev, (edited )

Aren’t those ducks? Geese normally have longer necks? Nice pic either way

CameronDev,

I stand corrected. I’ll correct my comment.

CameronDev,

How are you determining the bed is at temp? The sensor is in the middle, could the outer corners still be heating up?

Is the bed leveling actually being used? On my printer you can see the z screws move slightly as the print head moves across the board. Easiest to look at the couplers or put a text mark on the screen.

CameronDev,

Seems like you have worked it out, but you can usually see the z couplers on my print move about 1/4 of a turn as it moves across the bed. I usually look at the grub screws, but you could put a texta mark on the z screws to see if it was moving.

I don’t think the Z height as reported by the printer will be moving though, it’s an internal movement.

CameronDev,

I don’t think uninstall necessarily means that data is deleted. It could be that it is not being deleted when you uninstalled.

CameronDev,

When you say internal storage, do you mean the user accessible storage? Or the /data directory? The /data directory is not normally user accessible, but it is where apps store stuff. Those folders may not get wiped when you uninstall the app.
