I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla. She’s been my trusty steed for the last 14 years and is in good working order. I recognize she won’t last forever, and if, god forbid (mostly for her) I get in an accident, I will need to get a new car. So what dumb cars do you drive, and what would you replace them with?
Where did you hear about a reputation for durability? I’m familiar with the phrase “if you can’t effort two BMWs you can’t afford one” because of how hard it is to maintain them
To anyone paying attention to the natural progression of capitalism in our society, this should come as no surprise. At every turn we are incentivised to lie, cheat and steal at the detriment of current and future communities. Little will come of this “revelation” and frankly I’m exhausted.
Honestly though, in a lot of cases even if its possible to recycle it… if some shmuck isn’t poised to profit off it noone will do it. Maybe I am just a doomer, but it hurts knowing that we have the tools to make such a better world… And instead we’ve built this special little hell in our corner of the universe
i wouldn’t normally be concerned since any company releasing a VR product with this price tag is obviously going to fail… but it’s apple and somehow through exquisite branding and sleek design they have managed to create something that resonated with “tech reviewers” and rich folk who can afford it....
I’m going to add my +1 for framework, I got the batch 5 original framework 13 with pop os on it and a windows 10 copy on a 250gb expansion card. Its been my main work and play laptop and I enen replaced the main chassis after it got smashed (long story) involving the sidewalk. Anyway I love what framework is doing and the decision has arguably already paid off within these last two years.
If the intended work gets done, even if its done well within the given time why does it freaking matter what the person chooses to do with the rest of their time?!?!
In February 2000, Paul Crutzen rose to speak at the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme in Mexico. And when he spoke, people took notice. This is fantasyland. This demonstrates that its easier to come up with a detached sci fi solution than it is to part with fossil fuels and capitalism. Let’s say we do solar shades, there are enormous ramifications in messing with the source of energy for plants and algae. Large scale geoengineering may be worse than the original problem
I agree, it takes a lot of copium to believe that all of this “phasing out by 2050” shit itsnt straight pandering. Its like a smoker with lung cancer saying they’ll quit in a few years. We are hopelessly addicted to our lifestyles that depend on fossil fuels. The only one thats ultimately going to shift our society is mother nature when she eradicates us through famine, extreme weather and chaos

The point is if they do it for this there is no reason they wouldn’t do it to other forms of media. Youre either introducing a strawman argument or missing the point

I have a Galaxy Tab S7 and for a trip to Spain I downloaded some stuff to watch on the flight. When I got on the plane none of the stuff downloaded on Disney+ would play. There’s a lot we can do in labs, the snag is often when you try to bring it to scale. Regardless, doing this is like trying to clean your lungs while still smoking
I don’t know if youre being facetious or are genuinely unaware of how devastating this is on our natural and societal foundations. The further our climate slips away from the predictable seasons our agriculture was built upon, the increasingly likely our society as we know it runs the risk of abrupt collapse.

Oh yeah, I got super excited when it was announced so I preordred the mid tier. Each month after its released it felt like it was getting better with the games I was playing. Considering my life w a newborn this system quickly eclipsed my gaming pc due to the sheer convenience.
