@izaya I dunno. Depends on a book? Or, perhaps I should say "Depends on the author". Some books nail taking their time. Some books should really just get it over with. Depends a lot on who is writing.

So, for today's art practice, instead of my usual series of boxes and spheres I decided to look up some cartooning tutorials. And... Yeah. Not only do I feel like my practice is going somewhere, I could follow along and get a better result than expected (if only because the shapes I was drawing were a little better).

Not going to post the result, as it is technically just the same sort of face as the tutorial, which isn't great. But I like the fact that the whole thing is like "These are the fundamentals. Now take these tips and rough guides, use these skills and draw whatever you want."

Which will be what I'll be doing tomorrow. Trying a bunch more stuff, and seeing where it goes, then moving on after that.

Now, I might have like 30 or so minutes left for code and dev stuff before I need to get on with my day, so lemme go do that.

Oh yeah, I sent the faulty PSU that was crashing my PC (I am 100% certain that was the cause, as since replacing it I haven't had a single crash or hardware issue while nothing else on my system changed, and it has been several months now) back to the store I bought it from. They assure me that there is nothing wrong with it, and want me to either recommend some other tests, or to send it back.

I'm a bit peeved. Tempted to get my 100USD paper weight back and tell them they've lost a customer, but on the other hand I should probably not go around burning bridges.

The big problem is that it runs fine. Until it doesn't, then it shuts down my computer. The problem doesn't seem to be related to power draw or temps. It just happens. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to tell them to test for that.

Well, the company is being like "Nah, we tested it. You have to take it back now." I'm going to test it again. If I have any further problems with it, I'll be sending it back, and I'm not doing business with them again.

Today looks like it's going to be a "Two coffees before work" kind of day.

I've been running an experiment over the past week and a bit (Not counting the several months of prep beforehand), and no matter what I try, there seems to be a problem that keeps stopping me from getting results that make any sort of sense.

After much deliberation, confusion, late nights, long days, exhausting and exhaustive effort, and lots and lots of reading, I feel like I might have finally cracked it. Here's to hoping that today is the day that things work out.

Also, I finally understand why almost everybody applying this method to a new material complains about it.... Now that I'm exhausted, every bone in my back is in pain, and I'm just a little bit more crazy than I was a month ago.

Good morning, all!

Okay, a couple of things.

Number one... If all goes well, I will start slowly streaming again as I get the time. This will mean weekends. Likely, Saturdays and/or Sundays, in the morning here. Stream scheduling will be a bit... chaotic, at first. Things are going a bit crazy, so for now the goal is one or two streams a week, at around 3 hours each. I will be doing half art/dev, half games more likely than not.

Secondly, I have for a while now been meaning to do a lot more YouTube. Unfortunately, right now that just isn't possible. I simply don't have the time. Please be patient in that regard.

Thirdly and finally, I'm going to be doing my server here differently as well. I'm going to do a split between my more serious and more RP/streaming stuff, like the original intent was. Content warnings will be used for those sorts of posts on this account, and I'll link out to some of the other stuff as they start happening. The short-term plans for this include:

  • The return of Good Morning Planet Earth, which will form part of this account at first, with the goal of eventually splitting it off into its own account. (It's a parody galaxy news kind of thing, it makes sense in context)
  • The return of my more story-focused account, though I'll very likely start a new story instead, set in the same world as the game stuff I'm making. This one is a more "in the future" thing.

An eventual re-brand of the character and channel to have a more optimistic and hopeful feel is my final goal with this first phase. This is something I've been meaning to do for some time, but IRL stuff has been weighing on this. So, it's not immediate, but rather I want to make this a continuous, gradual process.
