All this NIMBY nonsense is just exhausting.

Apparently, the latest argument is that building affordable housing where it hasn’t ‘traditionally’ been built is racially discriminatory againt rich, white people.

How that makes any sense is beyond me, but apparently that’s a real argument. I guess NIMBYs aren’t able to find it in themselves to support something that benefits everyone.

YIMBY all the way!

@arstechnica To think some pet owners are now forgoing even the rabies vaccine! A disease that actually has a 99% death rate if its not treated within the first few days of infection!

It is really sad that misinformation from anti-vaxxers has become so entrenched in our society.

Well, as it would turn out, m/Neoliberal was not able find @Crawfish. He last posted a month ago.

Thankfully, @ernest was kind enough to appoint @theinspectorst as the new magazines owner. He and I (@CoffeeAddict) are now the moderators for @Neoliberal

@jcphoenix atm I think it makes more sense to interact with kbin “threads” from kbin or Lemmy. I have seen mastodon accounts favorite, boost, and comment on kbin threads, but they display themselves differently on their respective platforms - on Mastodon its part of the feed, and Kbin & lemmy display it as part of a comment tree.

Kbin’s “posts” and Microblog are more like what Mastodon does. I think tagging our magazine @Neoliberal should post a mastodon post to the kbin Microblog.

Per the error I keep getting:

Looks like Ernest might be doing an update of some sort? I'm personally hoping it's the API because I'd love to use kbin.social on but that might be wishful thinking.

One thing you might need to keep in mind is the kbin API is not finished. I am not sure if you will need it to post mastodon to the kbin microblog.

I think @ernest is working on finishing up the API but I have no idea when it will be ready and he has a lot on his plate lol.

I’m assuming you’re referring to the image the economist elected to use for their article? I think they intentionally picked that image due to the subject matter being about authoritarians.

Well, considering the Nazi’s (and NeoNazi’s) are authoritarian, then that fits with the context of the article. Though I wish they picked different artwork.

The article talks about how authoritarians create a sense of fear of and to maintain power.

China specifically claims that stability and security are not compatible with those ideals. This article says that those ideals are a result of stability and security.

I am still not sure how mastodon and all this works, but I am very excited to have been able to join and pursue our dream of putting taco trucks on every corner!

This brings me to my next question: where is @Crawfish? I am active in @Neoliberal, and we are looking for our fearless moderator to help us as the magazine/community grows. They mentioned they were active/lurking on mastodo.neoliber.al in one of their posts.

No worries! In the beginning there was lots of confusion with the fedeverse and the magazine did kinda die for a bit there lol. Nobody really knew where to congregate, kbin and lemmy were having trouble handling the traffic, and I think some serial downvoters prevented some NL communities from taking off.

But we are up to 116 subscribers now! We’ve just got to get more people posting and commenting.
