One of the many ways that Amazon has ruined the world, is in the way it almost effortlessly killed our ability to choose to buy things locally.
Like, I need new laces for my work boots. I could easily go on Amazon and order a pair of FYBEHWFAS’ finest laces and have them delivered to my house in a few days.
Or I could walk to a shop nearby to buy a pair without having to rely on people shipping them.
Except I can’t really do that, can I, because those shops have been driven out of business.
Just looked on Robert Dyas’ website, who are, off the top of my head, the obvious choice in my nearest town for the purchase of boot laces. The only ones they have that might be any way suitable are…online order only.
There are no shoe shops left that I can think of. Only trainer shops that will only sell shoe laces, which are too short.
No one stocks things like decent boot laces, because it’s just so easy to get them on Amazon.
Just made the bold choice of deleting all the filters on the Masto website, largely because 99% of my ‘Don’ing is done via Ivory, so it would get a bit confusing.
Let’s see how long it takes me to reinstate them on the app.
