Reminder: crypto isn’t solarpunk. It’s cyberpunk.

Listening to a recent episode of the Solarpunk Presents podcast reminded me the importance of consistently calling out cryptocurrency as a wasteful scam. The podcast hosts fail to do that, and because bad actors will continue to try to push crypto, we must condemn it with equal persistence....

Dippy,

Sounds like you want a system that is distinct but similar to what we have. But that’s extremely un-solarpunk. Solar Punk is about imagining a better world that doesn’t rely on bad systems anymore. Crypto is still a tool of the capitalist system at the end of the day, and that makes it the enemy.

Dippy,

Your last sentence

Dippy,

The thing keeping my sanity holding on is knowing that I’m not going to get what I actually want, so any bits of progress feel great because I’m not expecting the whole thing

Dippy,

Yeah, but protestants in this country have such a historied animosity that catholics kind of ceded the term in certain contexts

Dippy,

Actually, this statistic is off. Burgerhuffing Georg who does nothing but breathe burger fumes is an extreme outlier and should not have been counted.

Dippy,

I’m happy with this. I think it’s good to have the presidents team being in as many places as possible to hear people

Dippy,

It’s important to note that nuclear doesn’t have much waste. All of the United States nuclear waste could be placed on a football field and only be 10ft high

Dippy,

Feet. Or approximately 2 meters

Dippy,

You’re going to risk breaking the stick for the rock?

Dippy,

None of this is saving me money though

Dippy,

You know that there are international treaties he must follow, or be actually impeached. He’s actually given Isreal the bare minimum and done his utmost to limit Netanyahu

Dippy,

Listen, you and I both know damn well that a lot of them would still say thats too conservative and that they should stay home

Dippy,

The cattle industry is horrid. Boycotting or avoiding leather goods is not the lever that will harm the industry. Using leather goods means less waste from the meat industry. Leather items are good

Dippy,

My fiance has a skin allergy to wool

Dippy,

Sure, they sell the hides to the leather industry, but that’s just kind of convenient for them to do. If they couldn’t sell the hides, they’d still be selling the meat. But the cattle industry could not get by on selling the hides without the meat.

Leather is simply small potatoes in comparison

Dippy,

I’m looking for change in our systems, but I recognize that the system is far bigger than me or you. I’m not going to lose sleep living in the only system I have access to. But in the meantime, I will bother politicians hoping to change the system that way.

Dippy,

Apples to oranges. I’m not debating you anymore

Dippy,

Of course Japan has Baby Metal as their top Metal band.

And I’m a huge fan of Within Temptation. If I could only recommend one song for this entire graphic, its A Demons Fate by Within Temptation

Dippy,

I don’t follow your thoughts here.

But. The state would likely regulate them away except maybe in climates that aren’t very burdened by golf courses, if that’s even a thing. Communist governments don’t inherently take full control of all businesses. They simply eliminate private property, which is not to be confused with personal property.

A communist golf course might look like this. You roll right up to the course. You either pull out your own clubs or borrow some from the facility. Someone maybe informs you which courses are more or less busy, helps you understand how to play and what etiquette is expected for the pleasure and safety of yourself, other active and future golfers. And then someone maintains the courses when… whenever they’re maintained now probably.

Dippy,

Oh no! Not the 680M or fewer people burning one of the less dense forms of carbon for home heating and cooking food! This is very noteworthy alongside industrial and motor usage of hydrocarbons that have to be extracted from under the ground and water for the population of now over 8 Billion!

Dippy,

From my experience, Mastodon is limited by interaction being more limited. On Twitter, I used to have the luxury of not needing to always know who I wanted to interact with. I could follow 30 celebrities I was interested in, go to their posts and find a plethora of people to interact with about something I cared about. That got me started until I found corners of Twitter that I liked.

Here on lemmy, there’s a front page that’s bound to have something worthwhile.

Both are helped by instances. If you’re in the right instance for you, you already have an okay starting point.
