Linus Tech Tips (LTT) release investigation results on former accusations (x.com)

There were a series of accusations about our company last August from a former employee. Immediately following these accusations, LMG hired Roper Greyell - a large Vancouver-based law firm specializing in labor and employment law, to conduct a third-party investigation. Their website describes them as “one of the largest...

Empricorn,

I get it’s fun to dunk on them with a meme comment, but that’s literally the exact opposite of what they did.

We also have to overcome gerrymandering, which SCOTUS just said is legal (as long as the GOP pretends to disenfranchise people for political reasons rather than racial ones). At the same time, we need to overwhelm voter suppression with enough genuine votes that it isn’t effective. Same with the Electoral College, the illegitimate Supreme Court, and the Senate, which gives outsized influence to big, empty Red States and fight against the unlimited flow of dark money in politics…

It can all still be done, but we have to all vote, donate, and volunteer, as well be unified as you said. My big unity wish is messaging. No one can compete with Fox News because Right Wing Media is very good at staying on-message and we’re a “big tent” party, but still; we have to be better at it…

Empricorn,

Not with that attitude.

Using Lemmy make me hate Windows (or any proprietary softwares) and finally make me fully switched to Linux

Just like migrating from Reddit to Lemmy it’s the same as migrating from Windows to Linux, there’s shortcomings and learning curve and the more I use Lemmy the more I hate about Windows, because unlike reddit Lemmy is open source and open source softwares communities is more popular than proprietary communities and people...

Empricorn,

Personally, I can’t stand trying to troubleshoot obfuscated error messages in current mass-market software. I don’t even think it appeals to the lowest common-denominator. “Oopsie-doodle! Your puter has an owie. 😢 Running a Health Check to see if we need to download more FUN! Sending results to Daddy Microsoft! …”

Empricorn,

Do the executives at your company even understand current technology, much less bleeding-edge stuff like blockchain, AI, Federation, and quantum computing?? Ours sure don’t. Same with our politicians. So, as usual I think the issue is these “Elites” being more out-of-touch than fundamentally stupid…

  • Empricorn,

Right-wing extremists, racists, conspiracy-theorists… I’ve found they simply can’t help themselves and will eventually reveal who they really are.

    Empricorn,

Don’t be nice when it comes to the Rules of the Road, be rational.

    Empricorn,

Hmm, this actually looks like the fabled Shaolin Fuzzy Fist style! Tread carefully…

    Empricorn,

Well you don’t actually tell them that, or provide details!

If employers are willing to weaponize information and use it against you, your duty is to give them as little information as possible.

“Unfortunately, I won’t be making it in today.”

    Empricorn,

In my experience “call out” was more common for a shift-style job at a place with many low-level, younger employees. Think fast-food, retail, etc. Maybe had to do with the perception that another employee is just “slotted in” to replace the shift? Regardless, these same people are now getting older and the term has spread to other types of jobs…

    Empricorn,

Haha, Hunter! Now you’ll never be president! Wait.

    Empricorn,

These giant corporations don’t even have to be quiet about it anymore, there’s just no consequences. They couldn’t care less about you, me, their customers, or their employees.

    Empricorn,

Okay, so maybe that should have been the first thing she taught!

    Empricorn,

Very, very good point. Depending on the answer, I retract the “victimless” narrative.

    Empricorn, (edited )

Thanks for being honest and well-meaning. Sorry you’re getting downvoted, we both said pretty much exactly the same thing! A difficult subject, but important to get right…

    Empricorn,

Holy strawman, Batman! Just because someone uses the term “gateway” doesn’t mean they think that games and weed are going to turn all people and frogs gay and violent.

    Empricorn,

Of course it will. They wouldn’t allow themself to be sold if things were gravy and profits abundant…
