I'm curious - if you are a Romance Genre fan and you bought a book labeled Romance - would you feel cheated if the protagonist Love interests did NOT end up together at the end of the story ?

I'm not generally a Romance book reader. I enjoy them occasionally, and think they are generally great !

I assumed that part of the author /reader contract for Romances is that a successful Love relationship at the end - is the expectation.

Am I wrong ?

I can haz Kobo... The new shiny arrived today, much to my amusement arriving two hours before the email saying "we've just dispatched it!" The quick start guide turned out to be "turn on here" with diagram, and "charge if necessary" with diagram. :-) Anyway, it is set up.

@JulesJones I too have a kobo and love it .

Have you tried Calibre library? it's freeware that's available for windows/llinux/mac and allows you to sort your ebooks / digital texts and send them to kobo via cable or remotely :)

Also converts epubs to kepubs which are epubs with additional code that allows much more functionality on kobo (like pop up footnotes for example)

@JulesJones If you only buy epubs from Kobo directly then Calibre probably won't be much use to you but if you have non kobo files or files in the other formats:

Text: TXT, HTML, and RTF
Comic Books: CBZ and CBR ]

FYI for yarn-crafters, ribblr.com uses 'A.I.' yarn pattern matching to "assist you in buying the correct yarn for your projects" and it's trash.

Vampire Survivors has consumed my brain.

New Free DLC [Laborratory] came out 2 and a half days ago and I was getting sooooo frustrated at not being able to clear the level.

I just did it.

I miss Maplins.

Maplins was a UK electrical store chain that sold consumer electronics, and was pretty much the only high street chain for any hobbiest

You could walk into a store with something, take it to back desk - say "what is this and how do I connect it to this and not blow myself up / start a fire" and they could tell you AND sell you the required kit - at a reasonable price!

Nowhere does this any more outside of Maker clubs/groups.

I like 90 % of the interactions on mastodon but for the other 10 % - yeeeeeah I really wish there was a 'post only to this group' setting.

Yes I know there is functionality to just use everyone's name/handle and then make a toot private, but that's not the functionality I'm after. I want to be able to add names to a group and then have only those people (and instance admins obviously) see that post

There are fandom / hobby discussions I wanna have without having to fight trolls. Y'know ?

Note to self: You bought your existing mobile phone - Moto g(30) - in Sept 2021.

The battery is slowly getting more and more B0rkked and it's not upgradable :C

Under 4 years seems.. not great for phone lifespan?

Currently running Android 12, with official software updates, but that's possibly due to end soon?

I wish buying consumer tech wasn't made so deliberately opaque.

Boyf and I just watched the 1995 film First Knight

It's set in a non specific Wales, and mid Middle ages.

All Nobility is wearing crushed velvet.

All the bad guys have weird studded (almost bondage) armour, the women all have uncovered heads and form fitting dresses with CLEARLY modern Bras underneath - or they're corseted!

And there's cross-lacing at the back of nearly every outfit (men & women) in an effort to hide the - still very visible - zips.

In short, the Costumes drove me Bananas!

Because it's entirely possible I forgot to tell you lot, my 9 year relationship has ended and with it my stay in the Netherlands. Bricking it, frankly. Never intended to be 43, alone, disabled and incapable of work. But here we are. I have a place to stay in London, and wonderful friends, so that's something. Pretty devasted, still.
