I can’t believe Apple still doesn’t let me buy a macOS app on iOS or an iOS/iPadOS app on macOS. I learn about an iPad app while using my mac plenty of times and might not want to turn on my iPad to switch to it to get the app.

I might be out and about on my iPhone and learn about a macOS app I want to get - no can do?!

There isn’t even a cross-app-store wishlist I can add it to. I have to actually mail a link to the app page to myself and try to remember to buy it - so primative!

@schwa does the F2 have a film advance override button? Lets you wind the film advance so you can press the shutter again but it disengages the sprockets so the film doesn’t advance. Allows doing double exposures which can be fun :) (see linked post).

Just another play item for your film camera fun. https://indieweb.social/@alwirtes/109337175618649191

Is there a metronome app for Apple Watch that keeps working when the screen sleeps? Pulse looks good but doesn’t keep going when my arm goes down. Even turning the “screen to always on” doesn’t work (Pulse doesn’t appear in the list of apps to show so maybe it’s just too old to work right?)

Wife made coconut macaroons - half with melted chocolate drizzled on top - mighty tasty!

The product manager who approved this should probably go to the nearest chalk/white board and spend the next 4 hours writing “AI stands for Artificial Idiot” over and over. https://eworld.social/@ismh/112320590656353986

“I circled right back to where I had begun, to the question of beauty.
Back to the questions that science does not ask, not because they aren't important, but because science as a way of knowing is too narrow for the task. (1/3)

Yay - inspector approved my hot water heater replacement install!
He was uncomfortable about one thing: the temp & pressure release valve not being plumbed to outdoors or directly to a drain. There are no drains nearby to plumb it too. The only near exterior wall is 10 feet below ground.
I’d read the code and it seemed like this was ok because concrete floor + a drain in the floor, but the distance to it made him uncomfortable.

He decided to let it go. <whew!>

Installed a new water heater yesterday because I didn’t want to pay $1100 to have someone install a $900 water heater. It does take a fair bit of time, but isn’t actually “difficult.”

Still need to add the seismic straps and a screw to hold the vent on, but we got hot showers without the gas leak which was nice 😛

Hope the inspector likes it well enough they don’t ask for changes. 🤞🏼

I hate it when Siri glitches a reminder I dictated to my watch and I don’t realize it until the next day when I see something like this in my To Do list. It sounds like there’s something important to fix but I have no idea what that is. The whole reason I used Siri on my watch to add this reminder was so I didn’t have to keep it in my head so sleeping would be easier and so I didn’t try to remember it (sigh).

Ok this made my laugh off and on for at least 10 minutes :)

So, who’s the “wise-guy” (person) who sent this?! 😂

Nice one! Thanks!

This post from Derek Sivers is a nice example of why my dad’s advice to read all of everything I sign was good advice:

https://sive.rs/mistake

It irritates title companies when I read all the documents involved in buying a house (the things I’ve found in them!) before I’ll sign them.
Them, in frustration: “It’s all just the standard boilerplate! You don’t need to read that.”
Me: “Yes, I do."

After the first time I began to warn them and suggest they provide them to me in advance.

@schwa BTW, thanks for sharing all the Japan info you’ve shared. My wife really wants to go to Japan and is planning on walking the Kumano Kodo trail (network of multiple trails) someday. Thought I’d mention the trails in case you haven’t walked any of them yet. https://www.tb-kumano.jp/en/kumano-kodo/
