If I ever find the courage to write patches for the first stuff I'll try is to do is check on in all system apps to make sure they work in my network conditions: a connection at sub 300kb/sec speed. UI not reacting on button click etc. Notably using HaikuDepot is painful. I usually go to terminal to make sure it works.

Edit: well it only happens on all my Haiku machines but not if I get say the LibreOffice package from my other computers.

@santiago I also only found myself using the terminal. The depot is extremely unresponsive from my 3 machine experience.

@santiago @Ghastlyghost I basically stopped using the depot for anything other than finding software so I’m not sure about the speed difference. But it was decent enough, can’t quite remember the speeds through the terminal. About on track what I’d expect for a long distance server!

@santiago @Ghastlyghost ah sadly I don’t have it installed atm. Tried daily driving for a fortnight recently but there’s still a way from it being usable for me.

I‘m sorry for going on and on about this, but something about my recent #Emacs Lisp journey has brought out the 15 year old neckbeard in me.

I‘ve now ordered an extra NVMe drive to safely test out:

  1. #Ubuntu
  2. #FreeBSD
  3. #Guix, and
  4. #OpenBSD

What else should I be trying? Give me more freedom than I can handle.

(Also apologies for the hash tags. Trying to gather input from a wide range of people. 😇)
