GissaMittJobb,

Spotify however creates a Playlist of a a subset of songs (this size has changed, at one point in time it was 20 tracks, but IIRC it’s up to 50 now). As each plays, the last track in the Playlist is “randomly” chosen for that last spot with no context of recent listening history.

This assertion doesn’t really pass the smell test - what do you base it on?

For reference, here’s a classic article on how Spotify used to tackle the problem of randomness in their shuffle: …atspotify.com/…/how-to-shuffle-songs/

That was 2014 though, so who knows. Still, your assertion seems highly questionable.

GissaMittJobb,

My best strategy for dealing with this is leveraging my inability to deal with having any notifications whatsoever on my phone. Hence my strategy is:

  1. Anything that can’t be completed right away gets added to the task list
  2. All tasks get assigned a time, at which point a notification with the task appears
  3. I promised the list I would do it, and I want the notification bar to be clear - this is often enough of a push to get me to remember and do things.

A great aspect of having an ongoing checklist that you actually respect is that things written down on the list don’t have to be actively thought about - this calms my mind.

Bonus:

  • If you can’t manage to do it, it’s fine to push it ahead to a later date, if the task allows for it. Learning to forgive myself has been immensely useful for coping with the everyday struggles
GissaMittJobb,

An excellent example of the curb cut effect: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curb_cut_effect

GissaMittJobb,

In addition to those, there was also Finnish and Swedish subtitles.

Hold up - they run two simultaneous subtitle tracks at a single screening of a movie?

That’s wild.

GissaMittJobb,

I’m outside the U.S, but I’ve never been to a screening with multiple language subtitles in a single screening - usually what I’ve seen is that you can go to different screenings subtitled in different languages, but never two languages at the same time.

GissaMittJobb,

Vet inte. Glad att det blir av iallafall, oavsett.

GissaMittJobb, (edited )

Ärketrams. Det här kommer bli en oavkortad förbättring.

GissaMittJobb,

A fitting punishment for choosing to drive in NYC

GissaMittJobb,

Imagine the horror of not being able to escape France. Truly a fate worse than death

GissaMittJobb,

Do you hear it consistently under double-blind conditions?

GissaMittJobb,

You’re telling me you’ve gone through all the effort of performing a double-blind test all by yourself?

Former Blizzard President Thinks Tipping Game Creators Is Great Idea (80.lv)

By now, everyone in the world knows that American tipping culture is getting out of hand. That doesn’t mean you can’t introduce another way of “supporting” creators. Mike Ybarra, the former president of Blizzard, shared his desire to tip developers of especially enjoyable games....

GissaMittJobb,

No tip, huh? Guess I know whose favourite character is getting nerfed in the next patch.

GissaMittJobb,

GissaMittJobb,

Saving the planet means wanting cheaper electricity for electrocution.

GissaMittJobb,

Sci-fi is merely a mirror upon society. Hopeful times? Hopeful sci-fi. Dark times? Dystopian sci-fi.

GissaMittJobb,

Realistically I think it’s probably easier to acquire a botnet of less secure systems. This was a targeted attack.

GissaMittJobb,

I’ve always been sent a text when I connect to the network of a different country. It happened immediately when I crossed over from France to Monaco, for example.

GissaMittJobb,

It’s beneficial to declare that you’re going to share your screen, but without waiting for someone to confirm that your screen is visible, as it’s more or less frictionless to declare it but high friction to wait for confirmation.
