why does kernelbase.dll include a copy of rapidjson

JmbFountain,
@JmbFountain@mastodon.social avatar

@whitequark the more interesting question is: where is the copyright attribution?

Several vulnerabilities have been discovered in the Linux kernel

(this lists 250 CVEs. I am not sure who this email is for anymore)

JmbFountain,
@JmbFountain@mastodon.social avatar

@whitequark poor Salvatore Bonaccorso, I hope he didn't have to copy each CVE number into that email manually.

    How do you detect a gaggle of system administrators working at a classic German Systemhaus (one-stop contract partner acting as system integrator, operator, hoster, hardware vendor, consultant, and aaS all rolled into one) at #KubeCon?

    They all wear #EngelbertStrauss clothing.

    (He writes, wearing ES pants, shirt, and two ES jackets clipped onto/in his backpack)

    @RichiH given my experience, each of these groups will likely have double digits of fibreoptic cable protectors in their pockets.

    @GossiTheDog i wish. We looked at it, did the calculations, and came to the conclusion that we can't ditch VMware. We have too much Stuff that is specifically required to run on VMware (and often Windows on top of that). Which sucks hard, because as a public hospital we don't exactly shit money.

    It seems Linus is not the only kernel maintainer who needs anger management coaching these days.

    #Linux kernel is planning to flood the zone with shit. Every bug fixed gets its own #CVE: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/2024021619-barrack-shack-206c@gregkh/T/

    Yes, fixed bug. So all current and LTS kernels which are still maintained will drown in CVEs with every release, and the easy fix for an overworked engineer at some downstream is to deliberately ship with a kernel that's just out of maintenance.

    JmbFountain,
    @JmbFountain@mastodon.social avatar

    @RichiH in a later response to a SUSE engineer GKH clarifies it a lot:

    Today marked my first ever “big” issue with Linux and Nvidia: for some reason, the dedicated GPU was no longer detected after an update.

    Easy fix though, I just uninstalled / reinstalled the drivers. Still, not a good experience when you’re trying to edit a video…

    Which Fedora atomic spin have you installed on hardware before? Select all that apply.

    @fedora tried out Silverblue, but found installing custom kernel modules to be significantly more painful than on other distributions, including Fedora itself.

    Hand-counting every ballot might sound like a great idea – and Republicans especially continue to support the idea – but hand-counting is both slower and less accurate than machine-counting votes.

    @TheConversationUS i am genuinely bewildered by how vote counting works/is done in the US. Our municipal elections where you have 40 points and you can give any candidate from any of the 6-8 lists 0-3 points (and even add your own candidates), are usually counted faster than US presidential elections

    @GossiTheDog do you know when Windows/Chrome/Edge/Firefox applies the MOTW to files "downloaded" from a local file? I have seen multiple files handle this completely differently.
