JoBo,

What the actual fuck? How old are you, 12?

(with apologies for defaming 12 year olds, some of whom are remarkably well read)

JoBo,

I do know what fascism is. And I know why liberals usher it in whenever there is the merest hint of a threat from the left.

Do more reading and less cheer-leading.

JoBo,

As in 1997, a pineapple could beat the Tories at the next election. Nobody needs you cheerleading the Labour right as if everything will magically be fine if only they’re in power. It won’t. It’ll be a fucking disaster for generations to come. That’s the best of your least worst options and the very least you can do is make it clear that you are not fucking happy about it.

JoBo,

The fuck is wrong with you?

There’s nowhere to even start with this. You think linking to a very famous essay is plagiarism and “liberal” means what USians think it means. FFS, you absolute clown.

JoBo,

Stop cheerleading for more competently implemented fascism. FFS

JoBo,

As long as you’re holding their feet to the fire, what you do at the ballot box is your call. In safe seats, you can do whatever the fuck you want (but unless the candidate lines up with your politics, simply voting Labour as if all was fine with the world is the worst thing you can do).

JoBo,

They’re rotton to the core. They are not renting out several apartments just to spy on you.

Talk to someone. A lawyer, if you like. They’ll be able to help you either way.

Fury at Michigan officials charged in 2020 false electors scheme: ‘This isn’t who we are’ (www.theguardian.com)

“His willingness to sign a fake elector paper and try to send that in and negate Michigan’s actual vote speaks to his integrity,” Herweyer said of Vanderwood, who was then a member of the Wyoming, Michigan, city council. “How can I trust anything he does?”...

JoBo, (edited )

My browser junks them too. But it’s the principle of the thing. I only read it via archive now.

JoBo,

I doubt it. Don’t know if a fresh install would, or if you can get it fresh enough to work.

JoBo,

This is key:

For a full tank, I leave it on a local lamp-post overnight, many of which now have allocated bays to prevent ICEing (being blocked by a car with an internal combustion engine). Brighton is quite well served, but I like to think it’s at the forefront of widespread adoption rather than being an exception. Local provision has to be a gradual process, to be approached by councils delicately – my neighbours would be entitled to be upset if 10 of their parking spaces were suddenly taken over by EV-only bays that largely sat empty.

A very large proportion of housing in the UK only has on-street parking. It’s getting easier to charge up while doing the weekly shop but being able to plug in at home, or anywhere else you’re parked up for a while, is a major factor for many people. And the earliest generation of electric cars is only just getting to the point of old-banger affordability, so range anxiety will be an issue for many, many years to come.

It’s got to be workable on a 100-150 mile range for people who can’t buy new cars. And also for those who do buy new cars, because their ability to buy a new car depends a great deal on their ability to sell an old one.

Nice to see an article that emphasises how much easier it is getting.

Obviously, I’d much rather see the same article showing how easy and affordable the same trip is by public transport. But, infuriatingly, we’re not there yet. One day, maybe. Come the revolution etc etc.

JoBo,

Yeah, a community overrun by fash will die. Not gonna work.

JoBo,

OK, so defederation causes the problem. Having a unique community cannot solve that. But I’ll forgive you for posting twice, if that is the reason.

JoBo,

ULEZ is about particulates, not gas guzzling. Unfortunately, it won’t take many SUVs off the road. It affects petrol cars registered before 2006 and diesels before 2015.

90% of cars (and 95% of trips) are already compliant. There is a scrappage scheme to help people switch to a compliant model.

JoBo,

It really isn’t relevant. They’re not being prosecuted for saying untrue things, or things they believed to be false at the time. They’re being prosecuted for conspiracy to overturn the election.

JoBo,

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. They’re doing it and there’s an outside chance that they’ve thought it through properly (and a good chance that they have not, of course).

JoBo,

More information is alway s useful. But it’s pretty obviously quicker to build because it only needs to handle 40% of the liquid and it’s not on a mountain.

JoBo,

We can get plenty of water. We can’t get plenty of suitable sites.

JoBo,

Green hydrogen is used to store renewable electricity that cannot feasibly be stored any other way. There are some small Scottish islands producing so much wind power that the UK national grid cannot take it all. There are no battery packs or hydroelectric facilities that can store it. [So they’ve been producing hydrogen instead.]((bbc.com/…/20190327-the-tiny-islands-leading-the-w…)

It might not be the best solution anyone could ever wish for. But it is the only currently available solution for some storage problems and for a lot of heavy transport. And a better solution for cars than batteries. If you could wave a wand and abolish private vehicles, you should do so. But you can’t. You can make electric vehicles a lot lighter and a lot less polluting while you work on getting rid of them in this real world that we live in.

JoBo,

It’s very hard to work out how much you know and how much you are making up.

World’s first hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft takes to the skies above Bedfordshire

Fuelling time in real world situations favours the vehicle that is sitting at 80-100% full every morning over the one you have to visit a fuelling station for.

Not unless the batteries have enough capacity to last all day. And hydrogen refuelling stations are being built at bus depots because obviously they are. Do you imagine carbon-fuel busses head to their local filling station when they run low?

JoBo,

Maybe read it again, in context, and decide if there are equal rights to initiate that particular interaction (no matter what the genders or sexualities involved are).

Then have a stern word with yourself about being so incredibly defensive that you end up portraying yourself as a sex pest.

JoBo,

The contrast was between someone who chooses to undress in front of someone else, and someone who chooses to barge in in them in a state of undress.

Defensive? I’m neither a gay man nor a heterosexual woman.

Exactly. Think about it. Look deep inside yourself, find a glimmer of self-awareness, and work out what it is that drives you to post like this.

Sextape scandal reveals the ‘double life’ of Iran’s ultra-conservative authorities (observers.france24.com)

Social networks in Iran have been flooded with compromising footage featuring several known ultra-conservative officials engaging in homosexual activities. While homosexuality is punishable by death in Iran, the Iranian regime has attempted to deny the videos and cover up the scandals. We spoke to a former religious authority...

JoBo,

Because you clearly didn’t read it. And still haven’t read it. What is the point of posting like this?
