There are currently 7 downvoted on this post.

Who the fuck would downvote this, and why? xD

Provide source please: xkcd

It doesn’t say “xkcd” anywhere in their post except for the URL, and most people are not going to bother clicking on View Source.

So, that is a “citation” in the loosest possible sense.

Where is this image from, I wonder? Does anyone know?

I am afraid I’m going to regret asking this, but…what is a “tallywacker” in this context?

I really like this idea! Life is not a binary, nor are opinions typically, so the method of expressing that opinion naturally doesn’t fit into a binary format a lá upvote/downvote.

Instead of upvote and downvote, there should be like 5-6 options to choose from.

And hell let’s take it even further and make it so there’s an option you can click with every post that breaks down the current numbers of each pie-chart and/or column-chart style. That to me would be awesome! And it would help facilitate informed voting, which is important in any kind of voting system, whether it be in politics or social media.

No no, see, priests still exist, just not high priestesses.

Thankfully, the subset of bronies in my experience who are also assholes is quite low.

That is some Uncanny Valley bullshit right there.

Edit: Welp, that was weird. Not sure what I thought was Uncanny Valley–esque about this image. Don’t see it now, but I did then. Fucking weird-ass brain…

I genuinely don’t know what I was thinking. At the time, it did seem uncanny valley–esque.

Now, it doesnt.

What the fuck, brain?

MewtwoLikesMemes,
@MewtwoLikesMemes@lemmy.world avatar

Oh, that’s what they meant by “identifying users”!

Sorry about that. My brain knew all that, but just didn’t connect the data points together. Lol. xD

I mean, to be fair, if it’s a private profile, then theoretically the only ones (besides the company of course) that would see it would be the user. But the user already knows their own name, obviously. Which means this wouldn’t be as private a thing as it used to be, because why would the company spend time, personnel, and money developing a new aspect of the software for the site just to provide info that they and the user already would know.

Unless of course there’s something I’m still misunderstanding. Which, mind you, is definitely a possibility knowing me. Please correct me if it is indeed the case.

And did you bother reading the other comments? You wrote this one 18 hours ago, and 22 hours ago, just below I wrote “… so I couldn’t be arsed to read the article before getting up.”

I’m going to assume you didn’t. Here’s a link so you can get caught up.

You’re right. I did think that. And I was wrong. I apologize.

Don’t know him, don’t know them, Mooses are interesting creatures, love the movie, don’t know who they are, love the dog breed, and the only Shani I know is the one from The Witcher.

…So yeah.

Pretty much. I get it. I’m in the same boat. Currently looking for other work but I have sciatica and live in the middle of nowhere and most of the jobs around here are manual labor.

I can do manual labor and really have very little problem with it; I just have to watch myself to make sure I don’t overdo it, and most companies seem to have a problem with that because so many out there don’t care. They just want higher production numbers, higher speed, faster results, and don’t give a shit about the people who genuinely work hard but just are slower than the average person.

Sorry for the ramble. I’m still a little salty about that. (That’s a lie; I’m very salty about it. :/ )

I used to work in this one factory where I had use to calipers for making sure parts were within specification, and they were digital calipers. Which are all fine and good, except the ones they had sucked. Really made me appreciate the value of a good, old-fashioned well-made analog caliper.
