The Ontario government has agreed to pay $320,000 in legal fees to a class action seeking $200 million in damages for the early termination of a basic income pilot project....
Oh I dunno, I just did the math. $320,000 ÷ by 4000 is $80.
Edit: upon further thought, the article doesn’t say if this is the end of the lawsuit or not. Sounds like the $320,000 amount is what the government has already paid to their lawyers to fight it.
No doubt. Whoever’s making these memes obviously wasn’t around when Incognito/Private browsing was introduced. It was never advertised as hiding anything from your ISP.
I’m with you in spirit and practice; most of my tech stuff I pick up second hand. It’s pretty easy to get good stuff for cheap-ish once it’s a year or two old.
I’ve done exactly what you’ve said; I had a couple old laptops in the garage, so I installed Linux and gave them to friends who didn’t have desktops or laptops.
However, not everyone thinks like us tech scavengers, and people who want new stuff all the time outnumber us by a huge margin. So, while these programs aren’t the best, it beats the landfill.
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre delivered a fiery speech Thursday that depicted the government’s latest budget as a threat to the country’s future, and suggested a number of new social programs will get a second look if he leads the next government....
why offer up ideas that your opponent will then proceed to attempt to take full credit for (and many will fall for it)?
Because it is literally the job of the Canadian Government to do what is best for Canadians.
This is part of the NDP’s big failing: lots of people will ignore that they were the reason any of the good stuff got passed
Anyone paying attention will know that the NDP is working to help Canadians, unlike the Conservatives and Liberals. They’re actually doing their job as opposition by getting the party in power to get things done that are good for Canadians.
Anyone not paying attention will vote Conservative.
Define government however you want. One party that’s not in power does nothing but bitch and moan and get in the way. Another party that’s not in power is helping to get things done that will help you and me.
But I can see from your comments you don’t actually give a shit. Politics is like sports to you and you’re team blue all the way.

I tried growing a plant in a closet once. The instructions I was given were to leave the light on 24/7 until it was as big as I wanted, then to switch to a 12 on/ 12 off cycle to get it to bud.
I didn’t try very hard on it and ended up with a quarter of mid weed after like 6 months
I went from trucking to video production. I’m a freelancer now, which is weird to me. I’m still starting out, which is tough at 40 but hey… I’m doin’ it. 🤷🏻♂️
Since puberty people have told I have a voice for radio, so the original idea was “I bet I could get on the radio to tell fart jokes and try to push my taste in music on the world” but the radio class was full. So I accepted the spot in TV and liked the technical side of things, so I stuck with it.
I was driving a school bus for 3 years to keep myself available for opportunities that came up. I’m now working an entry-level position for a big broadcaster, making more per-hour than I ever did trucking. I have some other freelance work as well, so I quit the school bus last month. So, the change is complete? I dunno, doesn’t feel like I’m there yet, but I’m feeling good about it.
I think a good approach would be to create a nationalized not-for-profit option that the other chains would have to compete with. Maybe it wouldn’t have all the fancy stuff, but your bread, eggs, meat and produce would be cheap.
This would bring down prices all around and if you want to pay more for better stuff, you can do that at the private stores, and that’s where the capitalists can invest.
