MrMusAddict,

Assuming this post stays up, guess I’ll start.

(Edit: first off, the question is easy to misread, and I voted the opposite of my intent. So I voted twice in my intended intent to offset it)

I voted yes because I fully recognize it’s a joke, but I also fully recognize it’s a joke in poor taste.

I watched Yahtzee religiously back in the day, laughed at this specific joke, and thought it was odd a community adopted the name.

I’d also like to point people to this community without awkward introductions.

MrMusAddict,

I’m bad at coming up with names, but anything that evokes “is best” that isn’t “master race” would work.

Here are some probably bad examples:

  • PC Is King
  • PC Over Consoles
  • PC Reigns Supreme
  • PC Ascendency
MrMusAddict,

Comparing critics of the PCMR name to people who think the word master is racist is pretty disingenuous. It’s literally master race, a term that was coined to identify a group of humankind which is better than the rest, a term that is inseparable from Nazi’s.

It’s not about being offended. It’s about being at odds with myself for wanting to be a part of a community because I agree with its values, while wanting to disassociate from the community because of a (seemingly) easy to change name that people don’t want to change.

MrMusAddict,

My point though is that the implications of both phrases is the same.

“We are part of the glorious PC Master Race” = “We are part of a group of humans who understand PCs are better than any alternative”

One’s more extreme with a stained past (regardless of how subjectively cringey it may sound), the other is not.

Has anyone used or contributed to OpenStreetMap?

I’ve tried using it over the years but I never liked it because there was no information. So last night I looked at my local city and there is almost no information at all. I spent a few hours last night adding buildings and restaurants and removing incorrect items. It was actually kind of fun and therapeutic and I plan to do...

MrMusAddict,

ABRP (ABetterRoutePlanner, the best routing software for EVs) uses OSM. FYI for any EV owners.

I update OSM all the time. Agreed it’s super therapeutic!

MrMusAddict,

I don’t use Voyager, but I would imagine that the SEO would be much better if the app was temporarily called “Voyager (formerly wefwef)”

That way people not on Lemmy will hear about wefwef and stumble onto Voyager correctly.

MrMusAddict,

Very nice aesthetic! Both the blue and the rainbow look very nice, and if you’re looking for feedback on which is better, sorry to say I won’t be much help because I like them both 😅

The rainbow one reminds me of some of the old Disneyland signs I’ve seen.

Same-ish sentiment for the blue one, although it feels more modern.

MrMusAddict, (edited )

I genuinely think this is the wrong decision (total content removal & inaccessibility). The best compromise would be to follow in the footsteps of WB and Disney, and offer the content is some sort of alternate repository with a disclosure. Something like “BWF is no longer associated with CR due to acts of domestic violence, but we’re still offering the content for archival purposes”.

No ads, perhaps not even any streaming. Maybe just download links, or official torrents, or something.

MrMusAddict,

Are your signals directly before/after the stations? Or, are they closer to the forks?

Name a single feature you’d like to see in a Switch 2

This is a weird one, but I’d love to see a reimplementation of the sensor bar. The gyro controls haven’t cut it for me. I like how the Wii U game pad had the sensor bar built in to the bezel. The real engineering nightmare would be squeezing IR cameras into the top of the Joycon

MrMusAddict,

Not sure if this counts as a feature, but; more expensive base hardware, less expensive peripherals. I’d legitimately pay like $400 for a top of the line handheld system as long as I could buy a second pair of controllers for less than $50.

I legitimately haven’t touched my Switch in like 3 years because of controller drift, and I just can’t bring myself to pay $80 for something that seems like it should cost $40. So my PS5 and XSX have pulled my attention away completely.

TotK nearly convinced me to jump back in, but I ultimately decided against it since it didn’t seem worth $150 to resume playing the Switch.

MrMusAddict,

Ironically, I think it’s my favorite out of the new trilogy in hindsight. Still bad, but my favorite.

  • E7: a fan servicey remake of E4
  • E8: something completely new/different, but unfitting
  • E9: distilled incoherence

New to this game, and recently finished my first little factory to have a proper building and a little bit of decoration instead of just being haphazardly placed temporary structures. (pawb.social)

This little iron refinery probably isnt much to look at for experienced players, but Im pretty proud of it. has 2 miners on a pair of pure iron deposits behind the structure feeding into the 8 smelters inside, divided into 2 different output locations because the best conveyors I currently have can only handle half it’s...

MrMusAddict,

I don’t remember if you’re at a place where you have the MAM, Awesome Sink and Awesome Shop unlocked. But you should totally get it ASAP. When I was new I thought it wasn’t very useful, and then after like 40 hours I realized some of my favorite/most-used content is in there, especially if you love to decorate!

It also includes an unlock path for some content that becomes highly convenient in mid/late game.

MrMusAddict,

YIKES, I completely missed the news about him. What a bummer…

MrMusAddict,

So far I’ve only got a lot of unsatisfying answers (from a factual perspective). It seems to boil down to how much individuals on the fediverse fear Meta is in their capability of doing a full take-over. Personally, I feel like we’re pretty protected form that. I’ve posted my questions, and still looking for some good answers here:

MrMusAddict,

I read that to mean “Spirituality is an essential part of [human history, and is still prevalent today in most cultures].” In other words, it’s an inseparable aspect of humanity. Just as erring is human.

MrMusAddict,

I would classify that as harmfulness that should not be tolerated. However only at an appropriate level of generalization.

Articles about an individual going extremist should be met with disappointment in the individual, and disappointment in a system that would foster that extremism. But to call the whole religion a group of extremists would be too far.

MrMusAddict,

That’s a very good point that people’s personal abuses play a key role in the intolerance of religion.

It’s a very blurry line between enabling detriment via tolerance, and disabling an inclusive discussion environment via intolerance. And, I’m not sure where that line could be well defined.

If this Atheist community would be prone to being more tolerant, perhaps there could be forums specifically for ex members of different beliefs. For example, I know there was an Ex-Mormon community on Reddit.

MrMusAddict,

I think you may be misunderstanding. I’m not saying we should ban discussions of abuse in a misguided effort of tolerance (or at all). I’m saying that we should be careful of overgeneralizations, and that if people would like a space to overgeneralize, it should be on other communities.
