@gruber I've been in the Apple ecosystem for almost 20 years at this point and have always found those stickers weird. Like what I am even supposed to do with them? The devices already have Apple logos, am I that much of a fan that I need even more logos?

Perhaps they're a holdover from when Apple was the plucky underdog and that's why I don't get it 🤷‍♂️

@heliomass I can neither confirm nor deny whether I have been on the beta for this. But if I were part of the beta I would tell you it's been fully functional for several weeks now and it is glorious (albeit somewhat clunky)

@heliomass Very interesting! I came for the public transport content, but I stayed for the legacy Macintosh commentary.

I have an old 2012 11" Air that I always thought I would work up the courage to try to install Linux on one day. And now after reading your post, that is most definitely still the plan 😅 But this is still a cool project I hadn't heard of

    Somehow the suburban/rural government in power in Ontario gets it while the suburban/rural government in power in Quebec does not 😿

    @RM_Transit much of the political class in Quebec resents Montreal and what it represents, and the electoral system has produced a provincial government with almost no reprsentation from Montreal. Having the provincial capital in Quebec City (where many people also resent Montreal) probably doesn't help.

    From an outsider's perspective, Queen's Park being in Toronto seems like a good thing for Toronto.

    @RM_Transit indeed, and not just the NIMBY homeowners that you'd expect. even so-called progressives have been up in arms over the REM "because concrete" and/or "because big bad bank", spectacularly failing to see the bigger picture.

    you occasionally mention in your videos we should be taking inspiration from France, but as it happens nowadays in Quebec there is about as much hostility to France and the French as there is to anglos. we are increasingly isolated, off in our own little world ⚜️

    @RM_Transit I enjoyed the Hauptbahnhof so much that I made it the header image for my social media accounts. I doubt the gigantic Bombardier neon sign is still there, but back in the day it was a source of pride to arrive by train in Berlin as a Canadian and by greeted by that 🥹

    @RM_Transit the premier takes away the CDPQ's own project and then gives them someone else's. It feels like improv hour at the provincial capital these days.

    But hopefully this will result in the REM de l'Est being given back to its rightful owner.

    Because if he thinks the Quebec City Tramway is expensive, then surely the ARTM's 36 billion dollar Projet structurant de l'Est is orders of magnitude worse

    Does anything in the Apple multiverse sync less reliably than Shortcuts? It just botched all of my folders and organization for the umpteenth time. I can’t even imagine how infuriating this must be for people who are more serious Shortcuts users than me.

    @gruber I got heavily into shortcuts almost as soon as Apple rolled them out, but in the first few years my organization was always getting screwed up and every OS update would bork a good number of them. In retrospect, this is probably why I (mostly) stopped using them

    @RM_Transit some of those unpleasant examples he showed (Chicago?) looked very primitive compared to the fully-enclosed experience of a REM station in a highway median. The TOD connection at Du Quartier is actually quite good.

    I agree that at this point in North America we should probably take what we can get in terms of new metro being built 😅

    @jfmezei je sais que l'horaire est semblable au métro, c'est ça que j'aime.

    J'ose espérer que même à Montréal, surtout après tout le cafouillis autour de Bonaventure-Gare Centrale, on sera en mesure de trouver une solution à McGill pour que tout cela fonctionne.

    Autrefois j'habitais aussi sur la ligne DM, et la fds il fallait planifier sa vie autour de l'horaire du train (et juste être content que le service fds existait, contrairement aux autres lignes). J'aime mieux une fréquence de métro
