NoRamyunForYou,

Got a whole heap of small projects that I have in my head that I want to get done, but nothing’s being put into paper so Im beginning to have some doubts as to what I’ll get done lol.

Ahh that Lemmy.world delay thing to explains why I haven’t been seeing some alerts for replies etc. Still don’t fully understand the whole “hours behind” thing and how it all works.

NoRamyunForYou,

At this rate, I do wonder what will happen in the near to mid future (within most of our lifetimes), say 20~50 years time.

Will things just continue to accelerate and the world as we know it around us completely changes? Or will there be something that truly drives a reversal ( say a breakthrough technology or a complete 180 in thinking/policies around the world)? Or will climate change happen at a rate that allows us to adapt to it as it changes.

NoRamyunForYou,

Yeah, realistically I don’t see enough change happening to mitigate everything.

Add in the fact that a lot of politics around the world seems to be adamant on speeding Climate Change, sometimes I get into mini spirals thinking about potential flow on effects and how it would impact our society, and our family etc.

NoRamyunForYou,

Similar here. I don’t know too much about it other than reading some articles and going down mini rabbit holes of surface level research, but it really seems Fusion is something the entire world should be a lot more invested in.

NoRamyunForYou,

With the direction alot of the world seems to be taking recently - especially with all these political parties/politicians that are so into Climate Change Denial, I don’t have too much faith we’d be able to achieve something like that on a meaningful global scale.

NoRamyunForYou,

During highschool (between 2000’s and 2010’s) I don’t think there even were any conversations around climate change.

NoRamyunForYou,

All these Draymond incidents just blend in with each other now. I can’t differentiate between them all

NoRamyunForYou,

I don’t know where you got the outraged part from my comment - I think we can make observations without such strong emotions?, especially when they don’t affect you personally.

NoRamyunForYou,

A year or two ago I purchased a snowboard from Hyperride, and the that was brilliant. Can’t quite remember what the service was, but you could track where the driver was in real time.

NoRamyunForYou,

I’ve been on Lemmy everyday, but my apps setting changed so that my landing page was the “Home” pqge and not my “Local” as it was before. Has really decreased how often I come here. Better update it so that it’s changed back.

NoRamyunForYou,

I really like Danny Ric (who doesn’t), but I want to see Liam Lawson get a real shot at a drive.

NoRamyunForYou,

Yeah, in my head all of this makes sense.

But in my heart I would so love for this to be a more competitive year.

NoRamyunForYou,

Unrelated, but for no real reason whatsoever, I preferred HDMI over DP until recently when I noticed I was having noticing some weird behavior with my laptops and my usbc dock.

I did some testing with DP cables instead of HDMI, and it totally fixed it. Ive since been converted to DP.

NoRamyunForYou,

I’m seriously gonna miss last year’s George Russell lol

NoRamyunForYou,

I’ve always wanted to be able to setup a small home gym.

Finally have the space to do it, and pulled the plug over the weekend :)

Just (im)patiently waiting on it to arrive, and then Ill be onto the challenge of how to set it all up.

NoRamyunForYou,

Holy moly haha same. I don’t currently have kids so never thought this would be a thing to think about 😂😂

NoRamyunForYou,

Been pretty hectic and busy, so have naturally been a bit distant from Lemmy for a while.

How’s everything going? Any breaking news?

NoRamyunForYou,

ouch! Hope you don’t have to wait too long

NoRamyunForYou,

Phew! I thought Lemmy.nz was no more haha. Couldn’t log in anywhere for the last few days and thought it might have something to do with 19.2

Just got the idea to search this community from Lemmy.com and saw the comment about having to re-login.

NoRamyunForYou,

Got some Cavius smoke alarms at the recommendation of @Dave. Havent installed them yet (Will be a friday evening Job :)). They look good.

NoRamyunForYou,

We stopped over at Taupo during our recent holiday trip, and it was lovely. Had a nice bike ride around part of the lakefront - much nicer than I had remembered.

NoRamyunForYou,

Yeah - the starter pack with the Heat Alarm did make it more attractive - was thinking of getting two starter packs which I think should be enough to cover our house pretty good.

Do you by any chance have any recommendations for some 10 year larger ones? (wanted to do a quick comparison to see if they would be worthwhile)

I was initially planning to just get the normal large 9V ones, but then I started reading reviews around the many false alarms, and many of them not working, which made me lean towards the Cavius ones.

Haha that xkcd does seem pretty inline with a lot of the product reviews I’ve read (though alot of them are more negative than positive for the many smoke alarms out there).

NoRamyunForYou,

Actually that’s a good point re/ price of 9V batteries. I had just assumed they were cheap enough that they wouldn’t factor into the equation.

NoRamyunForYou,

Yeah saw some of those interlinked type ones when I was at Bunnings/Mitre 10, was intrigued but unfortunately put off by the cost haha.
