My friend Andre wrote this tune years ago. I always feel safe when I listen to it. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/yi39gg61ohw3kjicgg6tu/one-fine-doob-instrumental.ogg?rlkey=sath7nok0ur95ud4jmy4r2o0a&dl=0

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@singingnala Haha what an old thing. I'd like to think I've written much better since then, but you know, nostalgia and memories etc.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@singingnala Probably. I haven't heard it in several ages, so maybe a refresher is a good thing. Oh, and what a gig lastn night eh?

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@singingnala Very definitely. I'm very fortunate with gigs like that, to be working with killer musicians.

There are plenty of free instruments in the world, but this piano really is one of the finest, in my humble opinion.

I'm featuring on a new album today. Not every track, but certainly a few of them.

Anyone interested in a Roland ED Sound Canvas SC8820 sound module with US AC adapter? Its been sitting here for 10 years, works great and I don't think I'll be using it any time soon.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@jpellis2008 Try @MutedTrampet. I tried shipping him my SC-88 Pro about a year ago, but since it's so much harder to ship out of the uK (post-brexit) than it's ever been, it just didn't work out. I've been on the hunt for something to make up for that ever-since. This seems like a great fit.

@KaraLG84 She's great! Fun to work with, joyful personality, down-to-earth. Glad I met her.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@KaraLG84 That's alright, I'm happy being the furniture behind great vocalists honestly. It's about them not me. I do love being able to use a real piano in things like this though.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@Ryok141 Thanks for listening. We definitely had fun.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@davetaylor2112 That was very fun to record. Wasn't planned, it's far from perfect but to me that's what makes it more real, you know?

I'm mildly surprisedin foobar 2000 i can't view the current time I'm in when playing a file so I can write a quick trim script for ffmpeg.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@podcast It's one of those very damn irritating things about that player. One of the very few. Winamp populated the jump dialog with current time, foobar does not... Silly.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@podcast Yep, and there's also the Foobar NVDA Addon made by @jscholes which I use a lot. Makes parsing the status bar quite a bit easier for exactly these kinds of reasons.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@jscholes @x0 @podcast I wasn't at all aware NVDA had built-in anything for foobar. Where does it even say/show that? I know it must do something when it says 'xyz module is loaded' but that doesn't tell me anything about how to find out what NVDA does as a result of that.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@x0 @jscholes @podcast Interesting. Definitely doesn't do anything in my config, but likely because I have James's custom status bar.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@jscholes @x0 @podcast Yeah, I just tried those after reading the documentation and nothing happens. It makes sense but I think these shouldn't be included where they are.

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@jscholes @podcast @x0 I do not GitHub. I music...

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@jscholes going all the way back to your first post on this topic, did you update this for 2024.1, just so it doesn't come up as disabled? Not that it matters, enabling it doesn't cause any instability but thought I'd ask.
@podcast

Onj,

@jscholes @podcast Alright, thanks.

I've made a very talky video this time around, as I think explaining my particular brand of madness may help some.
I take you through my choice of where to place VoiceOver Hotspots so that I get the best out of quickly and efficiently.
Notice I say 'I' and not You.

As this is one of the most subjective videos I've ever made, I want to make it clear that this isn't so much Logic-related as it is Me-related.

What works for me may not work for you, and that's of course absolutely fine, but Hotspots in-general tend to go under-used by many VoiceOver users, so if this benefits anyone at all, I'll be happy.
Personally, I'm so much slower without them and get annoyed when they don't function as intended. That's one of the major downsides to such things, and for transparency I talk about that as well.
When they do work for me however, they are the fastest way to navigate Logic that I personally know of.

@tuukkao I love'em. As soon as I learnt how useful they could be, I never went back. If I have to spend 35 seconds setting them up at the beginning of a session, which is fast thanks to item chooser, I'm doing it.

Take two notes. In this case, G# and A#, put chords around them. You might think it's quite simple and boring, but I don't think so. It can flow like water in a gentle river. You can take the idea in many different directions. https://youtu.be/mRQOuzeARos

Onj,
@Onj@mastodonmusic.social avatar

@RavenLuni Go for it. Doesn't have to be those notes, any notes will do, even ones you think wouldn't work together. Anything can be made to work if you want them to.
