Linux and *BSD user, hardware and software tinkerer, A bit inept.
I wanna make non-violent videogames, but despite programming for years, I have basically zero programming skills, and refuse to use a premade engine.

Man, the way folks on can be so casually cruel and hateful towards people they think represent evil things is pretty jarring, and saddening.

Like, I am absolutely not a fan of capitalism, and the words "side hustle" send me scurrying towards the nearest airsickness bag, but I see folks just lashing out and lambasting folks that are even a little bit out of line, ideologically.

Guys,
You're awesome in so many ways, but I really wish you'd not do that.

OpenComputeDesign,
@OpenComputeDesign@linuxrocks.online avatar

@RL_Dane This is just a human thing, it seems. We are all guilty of hatred. And the only thing that pisses me off more than someone being rude or mean, or screwing up, is someone claiming they or they're people never do.

Long night so far.

A call from my sister just after midnight that she’d taken mum to the hospital.

Been holding bedside vigil while sister goes home and gets some sleep. Doctors running tests and whatnot. Morphine for the pain. Machines that go “bing”.

It’s about 4:30am and mum’s snoring with a plethora of tubes and wires.

Eyes are heavy. Chair is uncomfortable. The nurses showed me where I could make a cup of coffee for myself.

@dgar I'm so sorry :(

If the solution for preventing any kind of crime is to ban simple consumer tools used to commit them, you as a government are incredibly misguided.
Imagine your government just flat out banned power tools if there was an increase in people using them to commit crimes.
That's basically what Canada just did. :blobcatgooglytrash:
Maybe next time try dealing with the actual crime.

@Linux_in_a_Bit This is what every government seems to be doing with every problem. I've heard that in some places, if you can't prove why you were traveling with drills and crowbars and stuff, they can potentially charge you with intent. But don't quote me on that.

But I have heard politicians claim that being allowed to use tools that could let you reverse engineer software is like being allowed to walk into a store and buy tools that could be used for burglary.

I have acquired a Denon DN-C635 CD player! :blobwizard:
Unlike the cheap Sony CD player I have, which broke twice (the second time after a warranty replacement), this thing will work as long as that one Blockbuster in Oregon is still around.

OpenComputeDesign,
@OpenComputeDesign@linuxrocks.online avatar

@Linux_in_a_Bit First phone my family ever bought was a Singular. It got just enough signal driving home from the store to activate, and never got signal again, and they wouldn't give us a refund because it was successfully activated. Next was a tracfone, which almost got signal sometimes. Then, we had sprint for a few years, and had signal from time to time. Then we got Verizon, and frequently had signal, and if we drove around enough, even data. So it's what we used for years and years

@RL_Dane For the most part, cheap mid 2000s to mid 2010s laptops. There's a Dell Precision, an HP, a Samsung netbook, one was a nearly completely generic laptop with a built in portable DVD player chip. Pretty much all machines that other than batshit crazy quickstart features that no one would ever want to use, are completely bog standard computers just like any other
