OpenHammer6677,

Agreed. The latest Batman movie with Pattinson is pretty good tho

UN labor agency report warns of rising threat of excess heat, climate change on world's workers (apnews.com)

The U.N. labor organization warned Monday that over 70% of the world’s workforce is likely to be exposed to excessive heat during their careers, citing increased concern about exposure to sunlight. It also warned of air pollution, pesticides and other hazards that could lead to health problems including cancer....

OpenHammer6677,

Here in the Philippines, we have been having 40-42 Celsius of perceived heat consistently in the past several days.

Schools have adjusted class hours as a temporary measure to help alleviate the heat issue.

But it’s hard to expect the Government to do anything for the working class since they’re in air conditioned houses and cars and offices.

OpenHammer6677,

Feels like a Thor movie tbh especially after seeing Chris Hemsworth in the intro lol

Don’t forget the child delivery method!

OpenHammer6677,

I’m a sound engineer and I use different DAWs for different purposes. There’s just no one DAW that does all, so this is a compromise I’m happy to go with.

When I do podcast editing, I use Audacity to split multi-track WAV files and for truncating silence. It’s just waaaay easier to do this there than on Reaper. Plus it has a loopback recording feature built-in which I use for Zoom meeting recordings etc.

I use Pro Tools for audio post, but for most of what I do I’m a Reaper guy. It’s very powerful as you said and it just works.

I know it can be a hassle switching DAWs (muscle memory on shortcuts can get weird), but for me, I like making the most of the strengths of a tool rather than forcing something to do everything.

OpenHammer6677,

OOTL, why should OpenAI be on the slave labor list?

OpenHammer6677,

Oh crap.

There’s been recruitment here in the Philippines for similar AI training tasks with very little pay, too. But that thing in Kenya is much much worse.

I took on a music-related task out of curiosity and I got these recruitment emails after

OpenHammer6677,

Depends. Has that person been bitten by a death adder before? How much death have they had? Those things factor in the death arithmetic.

I’ve been using Kensington Orbit (with scroll) and it’s been great.

OpenHammer6677,

But if they fight climate change, their oil and gas investments will be hit. Who would want that? /s

OpenHammer6677,

Because it brings attention and therefore money

OpenHammer6677,

For context, we are having a transport crisis here in PHL. Aside from being the worst in the world for traffic, a major public transport system is about to be modernized and the cost is unbearable for the drivers.

Also the president has a record of being a “party boy”, going to lots of events and parties all over the world.

Going to the concert through a helicopter using public money is insensitive, and I’m being extremely generous.
