For all of the blind people who just lost access to the Sonos app, and everyone else who’s accessibility done gone away, I dedicate The Accessibility Blues.

Orinks,

@superblindman @bryansmart Speaking of Udio, have you heard the demos that Eleven Labs came out with showcasing their music tool to rival both Udio and Suno?

Orinks, to random

@fireborn Hey, curious if you fly anymore? Didn't realize you left our groups. Not that it mattters; just curious if anything happened.

Orinks, to random

Any of you heard of Obscurest Vinyl? It's a parody artist that uses Suno. The joke is that there's long-lost records lost to time, and the guy behind it takes styles from the 50s-80s and makes shock parody songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anmcNnm-_KE

Udio favorite of the Day: Fart your Soul Away, a Disney style musical featuring a duet about flatulents. Fart songs are usually meh for me, but the musical style of this one makes it funny. Plus, I've been wondering how to prompt duets and control who sings what.

Orinks, to random

Amusing Udio track of the day: Someone forgot to turn on manual mode for a non-music track. The result is a dude screaming at an audience due to music that's not supposed to be playing.

Alright, here's a new Udio post from me. This one's a sweet country song about something a man just has to confess to his lover after 3 months of bliss. Yes, there is some weirdness, (chorus not holding and all), but some of my Suno stuff got weirder than this, and so ultimately, I still think this is good. Please enjoy!

Orinks,

@superblindman @bryansmart I heard sighted people just fast forward to the new part, but I think the way it builds songs is better; there are times when I can clearly hear where Suno switches the song together and udio is way more seamless with that.

bryansmart, to random

I’d heard a few Udio bits, but, now playing with it, I’m nearly speechless again. It’s the most impressive AI audio thing ever. The songs it makes could be on albums. It writes the lyrics. It writes the music. It plays all of the instruments. It sings all of the vocals. It makes mixes contemporary to whatever song it makes. It sounds like real musicians, real vocalists, and real contemporary mixes. Studio music is fucking done. FUCKING, DONE! I’m not being hyperbolic. FUCKING, DONE!

Orinks,

@stirlock @bryansmart I thought about also doing the Bananna Bread song but thought well, @Superblindman could use it too because it won't be free for long with how much traffic it's getting. Plus, I'm sure they need the money; it's backed by some big investers and some pretty big artists, but invester money can dry up.

Orinks,

@stirlock @bryansmart Yeah I agree. The basic workflow is write a prompt, or click the unlabled button that's a dice icon to randomly make one, and either hit create, or there are headings for lyrics to either write them, make it an instrumental or auto-generate them. Hit create. You will get two generations, each with different titles. Hit the extend button on one, and a new heading will be there. Extension placement, where you can add an intro, outro, or add a custom section before/after if you have multiple sections. I may do a video on it but I hear accessibility is being worked on.

Orinks, to random

I was curious what would happen if I directed Udio to make a Beach Boys style song. I decided to change up the prompts in the middle and the result is a female vocalist spicing things up and wild spacial audio stuff they did in productions back in the 50s when stereo was a new thing. First time I've heard AI do that.

What if Disney were to perform a theatrical show featuring Carl and Donut from Dungeon Crawler Carl? This is what it might sound like. Despite the few mistakes here, I'm impressed overall and if someone can help me with voice metatags I may consider editing sections now that it's all done. @blindbat84

Orinks, to random

Also, I made a Stormlight Archive broadway tune about Dalinar Kholin. https://www.udio.com/songs/qYiH36cpJCDCqTha7CHj58

Orinks,

@blindbat84 Oh I know right? Thinking of what other books to do, DCC and Demon Cycle are currently in my head to get the musical treatment. I know SBT played around with the idea for DCC.

Orinks,

@JustinMac84 @blindbat84 The lyrics was me. Tried auto-generating and got bad results since it just kept extending with choruses and no verses or pre-chorus. Someone made a Dune musical tune which is the tone I want for a DCC Donut song if I did one, but not sure what to prompt to get that. Tried using their prompt and couldn't get that tone.

Orinks,

@JustinMac84 @blindbat84 You need to do 4-6 lines at a time per each extention, it won't take the whole song and generate it all.

Orinks,

@JustinMac84 @blindbat84 At this stage no, you can't edit the lyrics and re-generate.

Orinks,

@JustinMac84 @blindbat84 You can take those lyrics, edit them, and then put it in new song and keep regenerating until it's similar to the previous arrangement, but it'll never be the same. In general AI sucks with lyrics so best to come up with them yourself, or have AI write something, E.G. ChatGPT, and then edit them to make it your own.

With this whole AI debate, I have a question. Is using AI to generate your artwork unethical if you can’t do it yourself and have no money to pay a designer?

Orinks,

@evilcookies98 I don't think so personally.

Unfortunately, you can't set Arc as the default browser in iOS yet, but you can in macOS.

Orinks,

@austinnix Why all the hype around that browser?

Enafore now has notification noises and this makes me happy. Is it time to PR with a custom sound?

Orinks,

@talon Is this a new client?

A fantastic Suno track dissing the anti-AI community that I found in the Suno showcase I felt like sharing.

This track seems to be using Chirp V1, the model AI version previous to the current one everybody knows.

I'm curious why the sudden move from Dragonscave to another instance in droves? Did Talon do some unforgivable thing? Is there some rule going into effect I don't know about?

Well, happy new year all. I stayed up and rang it in with the rest of the US. In 2024 breaking gaming news, Eurofly 3 is coming January 20, with a demo later today on Youtube and audio guides.

Twenty-five years ago today, on Monday, December 28, 1998, my sister Karolann gave me a bird clock. This is an analog wall clock that plays bird songs every hour. It's been sitting on my wall for the last twenty-five years, and is, to my knowledge, the oldest Christmas present I'm still actively using. Although it still works, I can tell its days are numbered. In particular, time has not been kind to the button you use to adjust what bird song plays, as it's really hard to make it actually work.
Several years ago I recorded all twelve bird songs using an electromagnetic pickup coil, which for those who don't know, lets you record audio almost as good as if the device had an audio output jack. I've never been able to find another clock with the same bird sounds on it. So have this recording for your enjoyment.
Bird songs: Great Horned Owl at 12:00, Northern Mockingbird, Black-Capped Chickadee, Northern Cardinal, Downy Woodpecker, Canada Goose, House Wren, American Robin, Song Sparrow, Belted Kingfisher, Tufted Titmouse & Baltimore Oriole.

Orinks,

@jaybird110127 Oh nice, I have the same clock, and so does a friend. My friend's clock still works and all the bird sounds play as expected.

It’s been 0 days since I’ve tried a new Rust UI framework that’s completely inaccessible.

Orinks,

@talon I think Bevy implements AccessKit...?

Got a Corsair headset earlier today. More specifically the HS-80. I'm extremely happy with it, minus this really annoying light that the microphone shows constantly when it's unmuted, because it's right in my peripheral vision and annoys the hell out of me. Figured I'd try to install their software to fix it. So first, the installer is completely inoperable. Had to get through the whole thing with OCR. After that, once the software is installed and while it's running, no other time, it changes the beeps on the headset to prerecorded speech prompts with a delay of around 250 MS. And, the software's totally inaccessible too! When clicking on the system tray icon to exit it, I had to OCR the menu, because I couldn't even arrow through it. Also, it decided "oh, you have custom listen to this device settings set? Well fuck you, I'm resetting them. Oh also you have to reboot your computer after installing this software or your headset won't work, even though it worked before you installed our garbage software. Also also, we're going to put it in startup without asking, because double fuck you."

Orinks,

@TheQuinbox I notice certain things are disabled without the software running, E.G. EQ presets when you press the volume button. I just got the HS80 recently too and like it, but probably should've gotten a Steelseries because it actually has accessible software.
