My partner was like this till his 30s, and I was a bit jealous having been kicked out at 18. He was able to buy a house( with an admittedly amazing APR) with the money he was able to put away with this method. While he didn’t pay rent he helped around the house, and was a near-guaranteed dog sitter. I think that as long as the situation works for everyone it’s a great leg up. If someone has a judge-y attitude towards it they’re probably jealous haha.

Your parents (likely) had better opportunities to get that house than you do now. Give yourself some grace, just make sure you’re helping out where you can :)

Maybe it’s because there’s less comments, but it’s felt needlessly hostile. Even a small disagreement leads to this weird ‘well you’re obviously a fucking idiot that has nothing worthwhile to say’. I didn’t have that impression when I joined post API BS, but now that I’ve noticed it it’s hard to ignore. A lot of people just reading what they want to read, and drawing conclusions that don’t relate to the immediate action.

Lots of ‘burn it all to the ground’ users on lemmy I’ve found. They hate democrats so much that they end up sounding republican in the end. I try and ignore them, but there’s a handful each time a democrat is mentioned.

There’s no winning on this site. I’d love a multi-party system, but our current set-up isn’t like that. Right now I’d like to keep what very little bodily autonomy I have as a woman. I’ve voted and protested for years. I don’t care if you think I’m ’harming society as a whole’ because of my singular comment. I’m honestly done. I really can’t take this anymore. Yes, I will be voting democrat because the other option is too dire to consider, and that’s if I make it that long. I’m glad you were able to sum up my entire being due to one response to a user asking ‘what’. I’m glad you’ve laid this blame at my feet and called me stupid to boot. Every user is (hopefully) a human being and I just can’t stand how hostile everyone is.

Disneyland had a death due to poor management at one point, probably others. The one I’m referencing the Columbia on the Rivers of America. It’s not in the story, but my recollection was that it was a new manager (who shadow each attraction for a day or two when they’re promoted) that directed the cast to tie down when it was going too fast. The momentum ripped up the cleat which practically amputated the leg of the cast member and flew into a guest’s face, killing them.

Just flexing my useless Disney info, but kinda making the point that the ship itself was well built/designed, but management was shit.

Yeah, most cast members have at least one harrowing story. I had a man try and commit suicide in my section during guest control so had to create a perimeter for paramedics. We also had a bomb scare because one of the ODV kids created a dry ice bomb and put it in a trash can. Hecking wild.

Oh yeah, the heart attacks. I was in DCA (attractions), but worked with people who were at DLR before I was born haha. A lead I was friends with had to manage a heart attack situation in a bathroom next to his attraction. Life (and death) happens ¯*(ツ)*/¯

I always think of Punnett squares when I see this meme variety. But I don’t see why just 2x2 square grid wouldn’t work as a header for the transcription that we’re responding to.

Well, as a guy, I’ve been asked multiple times why I systematically play games female characters in video games, to the point of skipping a game if I’m forced to pay a male one, with a few exceptions (I really liked Albus from Troubleshooters for example). Whenever there’s romance in a game, I’ll also take the F/F route....

Regarding MMOs in particular:

I’ll play male characters when the female model is more sexual than I’m comfortable with, always. The first that comes to mind is WoW where the male models had a lot more ‘character’ to me. If I’m playing an Orc or Worgen I don’t want to look like a green/fury generic female body that has a straight back so you can see the ‘goods’. For EQ I had a mix of Male/Female alts, but did tend towards Male.

I also tend to like the way male armor is modeled over boob-plate.

Single player narrative games will depend on if romance is an option as I’ll tend to play female, otherwise it’ll be a toss-up with consideration to my prior points.

Over the years I’ve found it easier to hide behind a male avatar/username as I’ve gotten some rough interactions over the years and will only join voice if I feel like the people I’m text chatting with are chill. Tried joining a guild recently and got more ‘onlyfans’ jokes than I was comfortable with, and I’m sure someone will say that’s my fault for being irked by it, but that’s why I take these steps.

Growing up we had a German shepherd with HUGE ears we called Moose, but her main name was PITA. Now I’ve have a dog I adopted and gave the name ‘Dug’ (from UP), and will call McDouglass as a bit when he’s done something wrong

LED headlamps don’t bother me as much when I’m driving in a lit area. My main issue is driving in more rural areas (most of my driving) and it takes my eyes a moment to adjust back to the ambient darkness. You’re saying that’s a me problem? I was under the impression that was a pretty normal physiological response?
