My wild conspiracy theory is that these protests have been urged by Israel in order to bolster support by conservatives and convincing traditional Democrat voting American Jews to be persuaded to eventually vote for conservatives. The narrative by Jewish organizations is that these protests are antisemetic and dangerous for Jewish people. It’s also distracting from the current Trump trial.
The problem is that Chabbad, one is the largest Jewish organizations in the world, is spreading fear about the protests. They have a lot of influence, especially with kids on college campuses.
Short form video, infinite scrolling, and an algorithm that shows you videos based on your habits is a lot different than watching cartoons with random ads sprinkled in. Even as a kid commercial breaks were there to get up, use the bathroom, and get a snack/drink.

They mostly don’t make their own plastic containers. You have to make a shitton of plastic bottles and caps to make money and there are companies that only make empty plastic bottles and companies that only make plastic caps. Look at the bottom of your plastic bottles and caps for Logos of the companies that produced them.
When they hire a private company to make their packaging, then there are no public records on how much plastic they actually buy. (It’s in the millions of tons per year range) It also doesn’t account for the amount of energy used to produce packaging (it’s a a fuckton)
I didn’t know why I’m being downvoted, I worked at a plastic bottle factory making millions of bottles per day for many different big companies, including some listed there. They make the bottles and ship them empty to the companies to be filled.

They’re afraid of retaliation. I saw an article about the UIUC protests with a really strange blurb from a campus rabi/faculty. It seemed very inappropriate for him to be so involved and even giddy about the protests being messed with.
Rabbi Dovid Tiechtel of Illini Chabad also released a statement in response to this week’s events. He said that yesterday he engaged in “fruitful discussions” with the UIPD, university system president, UIUC Chancellor and senior administrators, where the officials underscored their commitment to upholding safety measures on campus.
He added that the university has implemented additional security measures such as heightened patrols.
“I have been in constant communication with law enforcement and administrators since the early hours. Their prompt and proactive response has led to the successful clearance of all tents and cessation of the encampment. Keeping our campus a safe place for all,” Rabbi Tiechtel said regarding the encampment Friday morning.
The problem is that in the past you would have your rates increased because you get into accidents because of bad drivers like this or the kind of car you drive being more popular with bad drivers. Driving slower will cause you to get into more accidents. Now they can do a root cause analysis and find the true reason for accidents. Unfortunately if you can afford higher rates then this doesn’t help anyone. States should have stepped in a long time ago to make getting a license more difficult and making testing more frequent.
Admin at this school is suspending students based on their political beliefs. They use the bad faith arguments that opposing Israel is equivalent to antisemitism. The same tactics that the Chinese government has uses.
I’m sure that there are other laws that could apply, like witness intimidation. Contempt can also carry jail time for each instance. The judge has discretion to hold him in jail during the trial as well.
