If the conversation is at the point where you are replying to replies, and you’ve sent me three rebuttals with each of them asking for clarification or verification from me, I’m now sending 3-6 replies back, which may require you to send 12 or more.
Also, I’d lose track of who said what and would end up referencing something from a conversation with someone else.
I never look at the threads. I get a notification on my phone that somebody responded. I read the response, I reply to it if necessary. I’m not opening up the entire thread and reading through a conversation from the beginning again.
I will say that one example for all is Abba’s “Mamma Mia” which I interpreted the beginning of chorus “Mamma mia, we are collagen” and the beginning of the second part of it “He’ll something broken hardly”. Don’t ask past me why I had to make it about intercellular matrix.
I have. Rarely, I see an ad for something I’m interested in and I wanted more information. There have also been a few times that the ad was so ridiculous that I would click it just to see who paid for it and why. I do realize that’s the whole point of those ads, but I have a very intrusive curiosity.
I spent far more years than I wanted to in sales and/or advertising. I hated it and everything it stood for, but I had a family to feed, and when your whole resume is sales and customer service, it’s hard to get into anything else.
At the very least, I was honest. If there was a better option for you that made me less money, I would offer it and explain exactly why.
Don’t take it out on the salespeople. Most of them are just people trying to pay bills, but DO BE AWARE there are some REAL slimy pieces of shit out there. I’ve worked with them and they will tell you ANYTHING to make a sale. Do your research before you buy anything, and feel free to slow it down and ask questions. If you get bad vibes from someone, leave and come back another time. Talk to someone else and see if you get the same answers.
