Victim reports his father missing. Police instead interrogated him for 17 hours, said they killed his dog, and withheld his meds from the victim. Victim tried to commit suicide in the room. (lemmy.world)

At one point during the interrogation, the investigators even threatened to have his pet Labrador Retriever, Margosha, euthanized as a stray, and brought the dog into the room so he could say goodbye. “OK? Your dog’s now gone, forget about it,” said an investigator....

RinseDrizzle,

Tbh, I think a big part of the 2020 protests was Covid acting as a pressure cooker. All we had was time and anger. Much harder to get gatherings like that when folks are busy working. Healthcare being tied to jobs makes all my friends raising kids pretty shit for the protest scene too. Much harder to be a revolutionary when you have something to lose.

RinseDrizzle,

Care to share a favorite recipe or two? I’ve been meaning to step up my legume game for a minute.

Thanks in advance, but also no presh! 🤙

RinseDrizzle,

Truly. It’s a bit bittersweet of news. To get the obvious out of the way, I fully support reclaiming housing for locals. They’ve had a tough go. Having housing gobbled up for private business is problematic everywhere, but especially on these lil island nations where tourism is huge. Gotta respect the locals!

Bittersweet, I was also in Maui earlier this year, at an Airbnb. It was a vibe. I always enjoy being able to live a bit more like a local when I travel. Usually nicer habitat than a hotel room. Having a kitchen while vacationing is so nice! Very easy to only eat restaurant food the entire time otherwise. Hotels and resorts bring a certain sort, and it’s nice being able to avoid that crowd sometimes too.

Hawaii is especially precarious because a huge part of their economy is tourism. On multiple occasions we were told “thank you for being here.” At the time, tourism was back up to about a 1/3rd its usual. Hit a boat tour that accommodates 45, with 15 of us on there. People in the industry need more butts in seats.

Ultimately, if I need to hit a hotel next time to ensure locals are able to live easier, so be it. Easy choice. I will miss the perks of catching a flat or condo tho.

RinseDrizzle,

Truly magical critters. Used to be at Gran’s farm as a kid and catch em in your hands. Fields were just covered in em. Great memories.

Haven’t been back in ages… I wonder how it’s looking these days.

RinseDrizzle,

Unfortunately, good chance of that. :l

RinseDrizzle,

Still ought to visit Uncle & Aunt who currently reside there, but yeah news of dwindling numbers is a bummer for sure…

RinseDrizzle,

Finally getting the hang of it. Caught my first couple wins. Very fun building broken decks. So much more Balatro to play.

RinseDrizzle,

Can confirm, impressive game, especially considering the solo dev. I seem to be shit at early army building. I think it’s too easy to leave on FF for too long 😂

RinseDrizzle,

Hog Frites

Twas at a brewery eating some bomb pork fries. Could dig it.

RinseDrizzle,

Uffda. My better half and I are living in apartments that are priced for college students and it’s still over $10k a year. None of that fancy shit. We have shared laundry machines but that’s about it.

What kinds of games might you recommend with deep worldbuilding and interaction that aren't RPGs?

I like worldbuilding and stories, and I like when they're mixed with the interactivity of games, so RPGs seem like they should be a natural fit. Problem is, I dislike the stat-heavy, grindy progression of many RPGs.

I enjoy point & click adventures and visual novels but they're often more limited in their interactions. What kinds of game might I be missing combining the two?

@games

RinseDrizzle,

I really gotta hit Outer Wilds. Comes up enough I’m beginning to feel embarrassed for having missed it thus far

RinseDrizzle,

Man, 2nd guardian is a tough fight! Maybe I’m still too early game for it, or maybe I just need to hit gud. They hit like moose though. Had a build with serious damage but still too squishy.

Makes me nervous to see what’s yet to come!

RinseDrizzle,

Oh yeah, definitely still trying to unlock more cards for better synergy. I was dummy and like, misunderstood how the 0 cost cards worked so made some foolish purchases.

Only a matter of time…

RinseDrizzle,

The dodge/sprint mechanic has taken some getting used to as well. Definitely need to be less aggressive than I was with Zag. Then again, maybe I’m just used to end game Zag…

So far I’ve been grabbing whatever weapon is hungry for bones, then configuring cards to play style that seems best. In short, usually focused on whether or not I’m up close and personal, or kiting while keeping distance.

Man, feels so good getting to experience a Hades for the first time again. SuperGiant doesn’t miss

RinseDrizzle,

As an easily-distracted multitasker I can certainly appreciate the inconvenience of clicking past it. Would be lovely to have a solid on/off in settings to omit the optional from playback.

More options almost always better than fewer in my mind!

RinseDrizzle,

Hot take but hasn’t been a problem for me. Like, the feature stays off until I turn it on again, and I only turn it on when I’m trying to expand a playlist.

I use Spotify for discovering new songs, mostly for adding to the DJ arsenal. I listen to a lot of music. Enough that I make like 15-20ish playlists a year for various subgenres of tunes either released or discovered that year.

Since I compartmentalize my genres so methodically, smart recommendations tend to be on the money and more of what I’m looking for. But again, when I just wanna hear what I’ve assembled I just leave it off – never on unless I turn it on.

Definitely been eyeballing alternatives though, since Spotty is getting deeper into their enshitty arc.

RinseDrizzle,

That’s a lot of hollandaise sauce, boss.

RinseDrizzle,

Big differences between fashion aesthetic and average Joe’s home decor. There was certainly a bit more subtlety to it than what media boild it down to.
