Wiggle signs are coming out unfortunately. Lasted over 48 hours though, and thousands of people got to see how much better the street can be with such a simple change.

If you want the city to do stuff like this, send an email here: https://tinyurl.com/SSRwiggle

Hope you liked it!

Even SFFD is enjoying a safer slower Wiggle! Our daylighting work made this turn possible.

Today, we’re launching a new campaign to make the Wiggle–San Francisco’s premier east/west bike artery–safer for all. If you want to see the city install safe pedestrian and bike infrastructure like it, use this 1 click link to send an email to SFMTA- http://tinyurl.com/SSRwiggle/

The Wiggle connects the Mission and SOMA to Haight-Ashbury and the entire west side. Everyone who bikes in SF relies on it, and yet with just two exceptions, every part prioritizes cars over bikes and pedestrians.

@SafeStreetRebel@sfba.social avatar

We want to change that- starting today. We installed custom Wiggle signs for placemaking and flex posts in the median to slow cars down & prevent them from passing bikes. We also improved pedestrian safety by daylighting Duboce to Pierce. http://tinyurl.com/SSRwiggle

Steiner St, adjacent to Duboce Park, has a ton of fast cut-through car traffic. This traffic causes increased danger to those walking and biking as well as causes delays to MUNI's N. This treatment immediately slowed cars down, making this part of the Wiggle safer for all.

A ton of elderly and disabled people live nearby & they deserve safe access to Duboce Park. Our traffic calming measures and curb daylighting help with this. We’re grateful for the Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association advocating for streets designed for people, not cars.

Finally, we hope that making this corridor safer will encourage even more bikers to use The Wiggle to get between neighborhoods. We’re in a climate emergency and need to get people out of cars. Safe infrastructure is how we do this. Demand it now http://tinyurl.com/SSRwiggle

Making the Wiggle safer has broad support, thanks to the hard work of the Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association and the city’s half-assed job. DTNA started Wiggle Fest last year to promote a safer Wiggle & access to Duboce Park following multiple crashes/city inaction. ty to everyone who stopped by!

If you walk, bike, skate, roll, or stroll along the Wiggle- please email the Mayor, SFMTA, and the local supervisors to demand a Safer Slower Wiggle as part of the upcoming Bike and Roll plan. Takes 2 seconds- works best on mobile http://tinyurl.com/SSRwiggle

for drivers even an entire family getting annihilated by an SUV isn't a good enough reason to make bare minimum street design changes in front of a crucial transit nexus

The Wiggle is the main east-west bike artery in SF connecting The Mission and SOMA Neighborhoods to The Richmond, Haight-Ashbury and beyond. Everyone who bikes in SF relies on it, and yet with just two exceptions, every part of the Wiggle prioritizes cars over bikes and pedestrians.

We have some thoughts!

Interested? We’ll have more to say soon, but for now we'll be at Wiggle Fest this Sunday from 12-4 at car-free (!) Steiner & Duboce. Come say hi!

The Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association has done amazing work advocating for streets designed for people, not cars. Their Vision 2030 project aims to make streets along the Wiggle safe for all ages & abilities to walk and ride, and we’re excited to help them achieve this.

Apologies for the Instagram link, but here's a video of the people waiting at a bus stop being hit by a reckless driver (everyone survived).

Not to be confused with recent fatalities on Fulton or at bus stops.

This road - a highway, almost - encourages this kind of reckless driving. Until Fulton is completely redesigned, this will keep happening.

Some people in the neighborhood have started a petition to make Fulton safe through infrastructure improvements - this is the absolute bare minimum we should have on our city streets:

The city wasted no time removing the safety infrastructure the community installed yesterday. Crews responded to remove the road diet in 2 hours, yet we’ve been waiting for more than 2 years since Andrew Zieman’s killing for SFMTA’s promised road diet.

The school zone speed limit is 15mph across the city, because we know it's safer for kids. That's what it should be here too. But state law nullifies school zones on 3+ lane roads, a dangerous loophole and yet another reason the street should be narrowed.

Though the city has failed for years to deliver on its promise to keep kids safe, it responds immediately to help drivers speed through dense, residential neighborhoods.

Tell the city to keep its promise and finish the road diet: http://bit.ly/saferfranklin
