Xmas was never intended to be a more secular alternative, it was originally created by scribes wanting to save space so they used the first letter of Christ in Greek, “Χριστός”.
I love the original Hotline Miami but I’m not a big fan of the boss fights like the ones in Neighbors (Biker) and Deadline (Van Driver). I find it kind of slows down the game and limits the strategies you can take....

The Adventure menus can be fully operated with the mouse or keyboard, or whichever mix works for you, which is why you still see traditional roguelike letters next to each item.
This makes me very happy, I’m still upset that Fortress Mode can’t be fully keyboard operated
