Proton VPN on Linux looks very different from Windows. How do you select one of their P2P options for faster torrenting?

Pretty much what the title says. I noticed that ProtonVPN Linux has an EXTREMELY limited interface compared to their program on Windows. I also do not appear to have the option to bind qBittorrent to ProtonVPN the same way that I did with MullvadVPN. Has anybody experienced ProtonVPN on Linux and successfully used it for...

SandbagTiara2816,

True, but WireGuard is on their roadmap of features in the works

SandbagTiara2816,

Do you need to pay for your email provider with Monero? If it’s the VPN that you primarily care about, then I believe Mullvad accepts Monero

SandbagTiara2816,

I believe those were agreements signed by Trump that Biden had to follow through on, no?

But let’s also be clear, Biden appointed the first Native Secretary of the Interior and signed the Inflation Reduction Act (the most significant climate legislation the US has ever had). Trump appointed Scott Pruitt to lead the EPA.

Would it make sense to have #CashAwarenessMonth

Maybe December? So we all take money out of banks, at least current month salary, and spend cash only. I think that is something that shouldn’t be hard to do and it would show if we, the people, have any power left to make positive changes for the future or we can just surrender and eat bugs....

SandbagTiara2816,

Two questions:

  1. Eating bugs is not an abnormal human behavior, and it is not uncommon in cuisine across the world. So I don’t see how that’s a negative thing, inherently?
  2. How would using cash translate into a message of “people power”? You’re still paying the same amount of the same currency for the same product, just in a different form.
SandbagTiara2816,

I mean, you’re more than welcome to try! I’m just curious why this issue in particular strikes you as a high priority

Americans of Lemmy, what is your approach to next year's election?

2020 was… truly unique. It was so hard to stay away from doom scrolling, and I (and many others) were pretty disillusioned by the sad fact that so much of our country legitimately supported the Orange Man. I didn’t get a wink of sleep the night of the election because I genuinely considered it to be a make or break decision...

SandbagTiara2816,

I like the Green Party’s eco-socialism, but their anti-vaccine lunacy and inability to do anything electorally beyond run a presidential candidate every four years doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies.

I like Cornel West, and I appreciate his long-standing commitment to left-wing and anti-racist values.

That said, I live in the real world, where Donald Trump is running as an open fascist promising to make America a dictatorship if elected, and Joe Biden is the only candidate running with a realistic chance of beating him.

So I’ll be voting for every Democrat I possibly can, while wishing they were better than they are, as always.

SandbagTiara2816,

I also really dislike the pop-ups and “recommendations” that I have no interest in. It feels like I’m being advertised to when I’m specifically already paying, in part to remove ads.

That, along with their incessant and poorly communicated A/B UI testing, is making me more and more frustrated. Don’t get me wrong, the price for a Duo membership is excellent for the amount of music available, but I have started to build out my own collection that I can stream through Plex as a backup, since I expect their platform to only get worse over time

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s 100% Clean Energy Bills Pass (www.huffpost.com)

Michigan lawmakers approved a slate of bills Wednesday night that are set to transform the energy systems at the heart of America’s heavy industry, putting the major manufacturing state on a course to generate all its electricity from carbon-free sources within just 17 years....

SandbagTiara2816,

Nope, just an image I came across. I wish there was a quiz like that though!

SandbagTiara2816,

I believe LineageOS has a wider selection of devices

SandbagTiara2816,

Yeah, “civilly liable rapist” doesn’t have quite the same ring to it

Alex Jones must pay $1.1 billion of Sandy Hook damages despite bankruptcy - court (www.reuters.com)

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones cannot use his personal bankruptcy to escape paying at least $1.1 billion in defamation damages stemming from his repeated lies about the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school massacre, a U.S. bankruptcy judge ruled Thursday.

SandbagTiara2816,

And Dan testified for the plaintiffs as an expert witness! Pretty incredible

SandbagTiara2816,

Oops, you are right! Thanks for catching that

SandbagTiara2816,

SimpleLogin. It’s owned by Proton, and I use their VPN and mail quite a bit. And it can be integrated with BitWarden to generate random usernames that forward to your mail account

SandbagTiara2816,

Is there a reason to prefer Rufus over balenaEtcher?
