Quick question for all you far more knowledgable types. I noticed that after I put my esp32 custom board into deep sleep it settled to a draw ~23.5uA but 350ms later there was a gradual (over 100ms) increase up to 27.7uA after which it dropped back to ~23.5uA. This happens after each wake and deep sleep cycle, but only once per cycle.

I have a suspicion but I don't want to influence responses - plus I don't really know what I'm doing ๐Ÿ˜” - Some obvious known pattern?

Had to roll back to a previous beta (4.0.0 beta
6) to get it to work, but finally is working. Bit of a nightmare as they've basically dropped any support for OS X below 13 for new software builds. Don't seem to be the same restrictions with linux as far as I can see.

Seems I was pretty accurate in my calculations for deep sleep, I though 23.5uA and the PPK2 tells me it's an average of 23.51, peaking at a max of 27.66

Graph from PPK2 showing current draw from a small pcb I made when it's in in deep sleep. Average is 23.51uA, max is 27.66uA this is over 14.93 seconds (in reality the device deep sleeps for 5 minutes)

ScaredyCat, to random

Ok, so that's not great. I don't seem to be able to get my PPK2 to work on my mac (osx 11.7) - just doesn't see it

Finally got myself one. It's been a long time coming but really wanted to get some accurate data on how good/bad my board's power consumption is.

Anyone have recommendations for as good note taking app to replace Google Keep? Looking for something that runs on Android and possibly has a web interface with the nice to have as something that includes local storage with some type of sync across devices. I won't be considering OneNote or any other app that isn't developed by one of the shit companies. I know that might make the recommendation a little harder.

ScaredyCat,

@KellyandRoger Have you looked at Gitjournal? Let's you make and store notes in a git repo. You can use gitea (or similar) if you want to keep it private. TBH - I haven't tried it myself, but I found it while looking around for something similar.

ScaredyCat,
ScaredyCat,

@KellyandRoger There's also a small app to take your google keep notes and generate the files that can be pushed to your git repo - essentially importing them https://github.com/vHanda/google-keep-exporter

Good advice from unexpected sources #1

"...what should you do today that you tomorrow would be happy you did. So sort of 24 hours in the future how best
to live, because people sort of set like oh well I'm going to do something for 5 years you know so it's this huge goal
but you won't rise to your goal you fall to your systems, right. So the thing of like what could you do today that you'd
be happy you did tomorrow".

Holy fuck, Conservative MP for this area just defected to Labour. Finally found a conscience and left the conservatives or just desperate to stay in Parliament? ๐Ÿค”

ScaredyCat,

@rob Wouldn't put it past him. People would still vote for him round here because they recognise the name, Tory stronghold. There's no feeling like knowing your vote goes nowhere.

Bought 8 Bessey K-Body clamps. They look and feel like cheap nasty clamps. They aren't cheap. Wont be buying Bessey clamps again. Not sure why people claim they're great.

Laughable that is thinking of having a hotel, tourist tax. More bizarre decisions to try and get people to go elsewhere.

ScaredyCat,

@elphez Cambridge isn't exactly cheap in the first place. Smaller hotels will suffer whilst the bigger ones just swallow the price.

The 'reasoning' was so they could provide touch screen information booths - the sort of thing normal towns and cities provide as a service for visitors.

Must be a real #woodworker now, right? Struggled with the decision for weeks but it's already trippled my speed...
