I am a bit old, and never got why so many people watch โactual playโ. Iโve done it once or twice to get the mechanic of a game, but found the experience more technical/boring than fun....
Iโve never enjoyed longform campaign actual plays much either. Itโs just not feasible to keep up with, and unless youโre playing, most campaign RPGs have too much bookkeeping to pay attention to. And even as a background listen, which Iโm sure is how most people do it, gets dull.
And yet Iโve watched quite a few though. It works only if I enjoy the people playing, their wits etc. I have no chemistry with Critical Roll, Mercer included. But really enjoyed Acquisition Incorporated: C Team.
But these days the only kind of APs I find myself watching and consistently enjoying is faster indie RPG one-shots. In particular, Mystery Quest (YouTube) where Tom runs a one-shot for a rotating cast of friends (all of whom very funny people) each month. No miniatures, barely any rules referencing. The heaviest game they run is CoC, and it never gets in the way! Thereโs even a โduetโ Thousand Year Old Vampire session that went surprisingly well.
Anytime any other podcast or channel I already follow for their humor and chemistry does a one shot I also like to listen. The short ones are always a delight. No fatigue, no fomo. It works.
I donโt think Iโd ever even consider watching a campaign AP had I started here. There are just not fun unless youโre in them, playing.
I am still in the process of ironing out how I want my control scheme, but when looking for a web browser to run in Gaming Mode on my Steam Deck that worked well (Firefox was being funky when run in Gaming Mode/Big Picture) I experimented a little bit with Qutebrowser....
I wrote a blog post about my experience with the Minisforum V3 AMD Tablet, focusing on how Linux/Fedora/KDE works on this device and how Linux performs on the tablet devices.
Iโve got two internal SSDs, of which one is smaller (128) and one is bigger (1TB). How can I tell podman (or docker) to use another folder? Currently, it sits on the smaller drive which has less and less storage.
So far, it seems itโs a bit easier to do with Podman / โstandard OCI containersโ because theyโre rootless and get stored in my home directory. But the solution I keep seeing is to move the directory and then symlink or mount bind the folder. I do the latter so that podman continues to work when that external drive isnโt connected.
This does actually work, but I really donโt like it. Why isnโt there a way to store a container entirely in a specific location and then run straight from that location?
The alternative is to provide Podman a custom storage.conf for a specific location. But that too is a โpermanentโ change. I would love to know a cleaner solution to portable containers!

With cooldowns for abuse prevention now on the table, I wish Valve will consider adding something like a โday passโ for Steam friends where they can share their librariesโor perhaps specific gamesโfor a short duration to someone they know without having to adopt them.
With cooldowns they would find appropriate, of course. And I hope that isnโt a whole yearโฆ
Or more simply: The internet is just the network. The web is one of the handful of โappsโ that run directly using that network. It just also happens to be able to run apps of its own these days and is a pretty โkillerโ one at that :)

A couple of years ago with my old phone (running if I donโt remember wrong Android Pie) and my old laptop (running Manjaro KDE) I discovered KDEConnect and how it could enable a clipboard sharing feature similar to the one Apple provides between Macs and iPhones. It was great! Now, after having changed both my phone (now...
PC to phone: works perfectly (regular desktop and Steam Deck used regularly).
Phone to PC: only works by clicking the share clipboard action within the KDE connect app each time. But I recently discovered the quick settings tile and now itโs almost as convenient as before if not more secure.
Over the last few days Iโve had issues connecting my SN30 controller. It seems to connect (the paired light is on on the controller, and Steam recognises it) but none of the inputs are recognised....
Is this why I have to wait upwards of 5 minutes to be able to actually use my SN30 Pro+ even after itโs connected? Iโve only ever tried this docked, will try undocked today.
In my case, I just assumed itโs Steam taking itโs time to realize the external container takes precedence. After three few minutes of waiting it works just fine, and the UI instantly switches between XBox/Nintendo layouts and the Deck controllerโs layout when I press buttons on either device.
I have also done this while in desktop mode, and while the system starts registering the controller events as soon as it connects, Big Picture still takes its sweet time, and by extension using the controller to control the desktop does too.
Unless something has changed since I bought it, the Pro+ can still only be flashed on Windows, at least officially. But the Pro 2 can be flashed on the Android app. Typical, eh?
Edit: It send fwupd can flash these, at least the non-Pro and Pro-nonplussed. And the Deck already has is installed too! Googling moreโฆ
Editception: Pro+ is indeed covered. But the amount of fwupd GitHub issues talking about things going wrong for the SN30 Pro+ during the update now has me scared.
