Black licorice is highly underrated. Red licorice isn’t even licorice.

In 2001, I went to Tromsø, Norway. Didn’t see the Northern Lights.

In 2006, I went to Iceland. Didn’t see the Northern Lights.

In February this year, I went to Iceland. Didn’t see the Northern Lights.

And last night, when they were visible from my neighbourhood, I slept through it.

Do the aurora hate me?

@sdarlington Maybe you didn’t see them because you never opened your eyes…

Good morning, all. It’s the weekend. Fun and frolic to your heart’s content. Just don’t make your stomach jealous. Time for the ceremonial coffee.

It’s Friday eve. I’m switching it up today. It’s cold and rainy out. Good evening for some hot cocoa.

My parents always told me that I was the most boring person on Earth. Then I realized that I was interesting because I was the most boring person on Earth. That made me sad, because I was no longer boring enough to be interesting.

I need to work on my worldbuilding. I feel my fantasy settings are less like Rivendell and more like Ankh Morpork. But I need to put more meat on the bones.

“What rights are you willing to give up to feel safe or right?”

SergKoren, to StarTrek
@SergKoren@writing.exchange avatar

The fallacy of StarTrek is the assumption that humans will survive AIs, or choose to go on dangerous missions rather than send an AI. But then, humans think an AI is smarter than they are, which is why the AIs sent the humans.

@SergKoren@writing.exchange avatar

It’s that kind of day. Apologies for flooding this portion of the timeline. I know it won’t help ;)

“Any human who exhibs signs of being superior to other humans or to an AI needs to be controlled or eliminated. Steepling of the hands and fingers is one such sign of wanting to be God.”

— an AI proverb I just made up

SergKoren, to business
@SergKoren@writing.exchange avatar

If companies have more, in many cases, legal rights than an individual human, so-called AIs will have almost just as many. The companies that control the AIs will hold on to their legal privilege.

SergKoren, to programming
@SergKoren@writing.exchange avatar

When an “AI” can generate and “understand” code, is there an imperative to simplify the syntax or process for humans?

SergKoren, to programming
@SergKoren@writing.exchange avatar

Follow-up question: How has programming, fundamentally, changed in the past 10 years? Has it? Yes, I know we’ve gone from OOP to functional to “AI”-assisted. Am I to assume that, therefore, programming is on its way out because of AI-generated code?
