We are actively looking for people that want to contribute to sharkey or are willing to join the dev team, especially in terms of UI contributions are greatly appreciated.

Our current team is small and while it is very active none of us are specialized in design/ui so any major ui changes might take a lot longer than other things
and that's why we would be very grateful for any help with design/ui

btw, the next release will feature post importing from most major fediplatforms aswell as Instagram and Twitter also some other minor changes like instance admins can now set the default like reaction-

Is any good? Looking into several instances to migrate to and stumbled upon in the Firefish server list, despite kitsunes.club being based on Sharkey, not Firefish. First glance, Sharkey looks pretty promising - not sure how stable/reliable it is though vs Firefish or they're all just the same. Also, not sure how compatible it is between the two (i.e. if I can migrate all of my content over, as I expect I would be able to moving to another Firefish server).

@frost @irfan Sharkey has migration but we do NOT plan to implement federated Post Imports they're unstable and result in spam for instances that federate with the instance importing posts and it will spam timelines of people that follow the user importing as each and every post is newly federated also this creates alot of load to the server which results in firefish for example getting to about 1k posts imported before the imports starts dying resulting in a profile that only has imported half of its post if they have over 1k posts

We are still looking for good solutions to this problem currently an idea would be to only allow non federated imports that stay on ur profile but are marked as imported but then this also has its draw backs

  • Silence Users and Instances
  • Remove Bots from trending hashtags
  • Remove Bots from timelines (user option)
  • Mark all media from user as NSFW

and many more bug fixes including a bug where firefox would randomly scroll up on userpages and report emails not being sent out

Important
due to addition of the approval system you need to set all your existing users to approved via database todo this just run this sql query (Rember to always use Transactions when working with live dbs)

UPDATE user SET approved = true;

Also for users that migrated from firefish
you may need to drop the old firefish silence tables to update
simply run these querys todo so```
