Certainly Kerbal Space Program. The first game that felt like more than just a toy or a story teller. Landing on the Mün for the first time felt incredibly real and like an insane achievement, in a way that no game I played before (or after) has delivered.
Not sure what's happening with the ranking algorithm, but it seems like the default main page is still displaying the same set of popular posts from a few days ago....
I'm 50/50 between whether it'll be good or not. But when the recommended specs require me to drop a few hundred on upgrading my pc, god knows I'm not playing it this year haha. Perhaps in 2027 :)
We need a mirroring function where I can silly to another server to mirror my user account where I can move to automatically without any issues when required.
Same for communities. If a server hosting a community goes down, a mirror on another server can take over after some mod activates it.
March 2018 – another expedition of the same team added more than a kilometer of tunnels to the cave map. They also measured the depth of The Last Nemo Station terminal siphon lake. It was 8.5 m (28 ft) and so the total cave depth reached 2,212 metres (7,257 ft).
At least the siphon with the lowest surface level was measured, but it does not say if by diving one could get even deeper.
How accurate are these measurements? What is the expected relative deviation? Or is it possible to measure the depth of caves up to the millimetre nowadays?
Why would I ever need to sign such s thing? If I contribute to an open source project, isn't it obvious that I agree to publish my code under whichever license the project is published under?
Interesting thanks! But is it possible to change the license of already published GPL or MIT code? Like, I get that if they make any additions to the code they can say that from now on it's all rights reserved. But the versions that have already published under GPL or MIT cannot be unpublished, can they?
It's very interesting, yes. I would really be curious if it would be possible to build a decentralised lemmy-alternative that completely hides decentralisation. Based on a decentralised database like a distributed hash table maybe. These have the disadvantage that they can be quite slow, but maybe that can be mitigated? Also, it would require some crypto, because now anyone can modify the database without having to have a domain name first, introducing spam.
I've had a look at signups for multiple lemmy instances and they all seem relatively painless to sign up for - perhaps a bit too painless. While some require approval by a human, I'm not seeing much in the line of email veritifcation (heck, it's optional) or captchas. Is there any particular reason behind this? Or is this up to...
Hope harddrive does not introduce lag during combat. I bought a 4TB HDD recently to avoid having to download and delete games all the time. SSD space is still expensive, given the size of modern games!

Well in some sense, but whoever provides the service should at least be allowed to charge enough to make ends meet, if they are transparent about their yearly finances and their salaries paid.
Which is the first PC game that blew your mind?
For me it was definitely DOOM 2! Miles ahead of anything else I had played before.
Reminder that this is a thing that could happen. (lemmy.world)
